Responsibilities

Role Purpose:

  • Lead the development, implementation and delivery of the annual sales business plan for Desaru Coast, MICE and destination event revenue in line with the destination’s overall commercial objectives.
  • Deputise for the Head of Sales & Marketing on sales matters and provide leadership, direction and coaching to the Sales & Marketing team in order to build a high-performing, target-driven function.
  • Own the development and implementation of strategic marketing and events partnerships across Desaru Coast, representing the destination in relevant stakeholder meetings and event sponsorship/activation forums.
  • Support the Head of Sales & Marketing in translating the destination marketing plan into trade, channel and campaign activity that directly supports the achievement of sales targets.
  • Lead the sourcing, negotiation and securing of destination events and anchor accounts in line with Desaru Coast’s commercial direction and brand positioning.
  • Responsible for sales growth and business development in the Singapore and regional markets, including travel to Singapore and other key source markets to develop and maintain trade, corporate and MICE relationships.

Job Descriptions:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Sales Department and assume delegated authority for the Head of Sales & Marketing in his/her absence.
  • Formulate, analyse and execute the annual sales strategy, budget and targets; cascade targets to the team and monitor achievement against overall commercial objectives.
  • Lead, supervise, coach and develop Sales team — setting KPIs, conducting performance reviews, identifying training needs and building bench strength within the department.
  • Establish, review and enforce systems, controls and standard operating procedures governing all sales activities and efforts, including planning, reporting, documentation and task execution.
  • Develop and drive the Singapore and regional market strategy — segment prioritisation, travel trade engagement and go-to-market plans supported by a structured sales call and travel calendar.
  • Build and own senior-level relationships with key accounts, event owners, sponsorship partners, government agencies and tourism boards.
  • Work with the Head of Sales & Marketing and the marketing team to plan and execute trade and channel marketing activities — joint promotions, tactical campaigns and partner co-marketing — that convert into measurable sales results.
  • Provide market and customer insight into the annual marketing plan and campaign calendar, ensuring messaging, offers and packages reflect source market demand and trade feedback.
  • Ensure sales collateral, presentations, trade materials and digital content are current, on-brand and aligned to the destination’s positioning, coordinating requirements with the marketing team.
  • Track the sales performance of marketing campaigns and promotions and provide feedback and recommendations to the Head of Sales & Marketing to improve return on marketing spend.
  • Uphold the Desaru Coast brand standards in all sales-led communications, trade engagements and event activations.
  • Drive the destination events portfolio — sourcing, planning and commercially evaluating large scale and high-profile events to generate the net revenues agreed upon with clients and management.
  • Work closely with top management to develop and implement policies and procedures related to revenue production for the destination.
  • Partner with Desaru Coast operating units to design integrated destination packages and maximise cross-selling opportunities.
  • Work with stakeholders and external clients to schedule all event needs into the appropriate facilities based on date and type of programme, projected number of attendees, dining service needs and other requirements such as meeting and group spaces.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact and escalation for clients and event organisers, ensuring issues are communicated and resolved effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the vendor and supplier network to ensure consistent delivery of needed goods and services for conference and event programmes, at the right quality and value.
  • Ensure events are delivered within the budget set and meet overall client and management experience and expectations, i.e. footfall, revenue and return on investment.
  • Ensure that all sales and marketing activities comply with government regulations, licensing requirements and the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Represent Desaru Coast at trade shows, roadshows, sales missions, site inspections and industry events, positioning the destination as a venue of choice.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market trends and pricing in key source markets and recommend counter-strategies to the Head of Sales & Marketing.
  • Provide coverage on external events on evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • To execute any other job requirements as assigned by the Superior.
