About Iterative
Iterative is an accelerator that invests in early-stage startups in Southeast Asia. Founded in March 2020 by Hsu Ken Ooi and Bran Ma, Iterative has raised $120M across 3 funds and invested in 200 companies.
We've outgrown a part-time finance setup. We're hiring a Finance Manager to run finance across our funds and entities in Singapore, the US and Cayman, from fund accounting and audits to LP reporting.
What You'll Do
You'll report to the GP and be responsible for our finance and operations.
- Fund Accounting & Valuation – Run NAV, capital accounts and the quarterly and annual close for all our funds and GP entities. Maintain our valuation policy for a portfolio of SAFEs, priced equity and options, and be able to explain every mark to LPs and auditors.
- Economics & Waterfall – Calculate management fees, carried interest and waterfalls. Keep carry allocations across the team up to date as people vest or get promoted. Produce IRR, MOIC, DPI and TVPI numbers you can explain line by line.
- Audit & Tax – Run the annual audit and tax cycle: financial statements, K-1s for LPs and GPs, and working with our fund admin, auditors, tax preparers and lawyers across the US, Singapore and Cayman. Prepare the numbers for our regulatory filings (Form ADV, Form D, FAR). Our fund operations manager handles the filing itself.
- FP&A & Treasury – Manage the management company budget, budget vs. actuals, cash runway, and the fund deployment and reserve model. Manage cash and banking relationships, including where idle cash sits and when interest gets distributed. Keep the GPs updated on how fast we're deploying, what we have in reserve and how much cash we have.
- LP Reporting & Diligence – Prepare quarterly and annual LP reports, capital account statements and the financials in the data room for new closes. Answer LP diligence questions and statement of investment (SOI) requests, including ones from LPs' finance and tax teams.
- Deal Operations – Process new investments and follow-ons, from reviewing SSAs, SHAs, SAFEs and side letters against our templates until the deal is funded. You'll also handle share transfers, stamp duty, Delaware flips, SAFE conversions, cap table corrections and share certificates.
- Build the Function – Set up the controls, close calendar and reporting. If something can be automated, automate it. We already use Claude to review deal documents and want to do the same for reconciliations, close checklists and reporting.
Who You Are
We don't expect you to meet every point below. If you have a solid background in finance and are willing to learn on the job and use AI tools to automate your work, we’re happy to chat.
- Qualified accountant with at least 5-6 years of experience in total, ideally a mix of Big Four audit and 1-2 years in-house at a VC fund or early-stage startup.
- Comfortable working across multiple jurisdictions. Experience with Singapore entity admin (ACRA, IRAS), US fund structures and SEC filings is a big plus. Cayman experience helps.
- Self-directed. You'll set your own calendar and follow up with fund admin, auditors, lawyers and portfolio companies without being reminded.
- Clear communicator, whether in writing, on calls or in presentations.
- Interested in building automations with AI tools.
What To Expect
You'll be able to work remotely and (mostly) set your own schedule.
You'll have a lot of flexibility in your role, and will be able to help define what our finance infrastructure looks like going forward.
We're an early-stage startup. Projects and priorities are likely to shift. You should be comfortable with a dash of chaos. This is not the kind of job where you show up and we tell you exactly what to do every day.
Culture
- Our goal is to increase the GDP of Southeast Asia through entrepreneurship, and these are our values.
- Iterate or Die – We believe the best way to attack everything is iteratively. Ship early, get continuous feedback, and boldly experiment. You also need to iterate with a clear framework, strategy, and hypothesis. Iterating strategically is the only path to success.
- Empathy is Our Competitive Advantage – Success depends on your ability to empathize with your team, the community, and your users. We set ourselves apart by going the extra mile, listening hard, and supporting with both encouragement and tough love.
- Be Realistically Ambitious – The best strategy for making a big impact is to be realistic and ambitious. If you aren’t realistic, it’s unlikely you will execute well enough to have an impact. If you aren’t ambitious, by definition your impact will be small. You need both to build something great.
- Responsibility is a Privilege, Not a Right – Continue to earn that privilege by being accountable, diligent and open-minded. Being accountable gives people confidence you will achieve your goals. Being diligent gives people belief in the work you are doing and your process. Being open-minded shows humility and allows others to participate.
