Employment Type: Full time
Location: Ang Mo Kio
Work Arrangement: On site
About the Role
Our client is an established non-profit, community-based early childhood centre looking for an ECDA L2 English Teacher to teach and care for a combined Nursery 1 (N1) and Nursery 2 (N2) group.
The role covers both N1 and N2, including the teaching deployment for 2027. Applicants should be comfortable working with children at both levels and supporting their daily routine care.
The current classroom arrangement is 16 children across N1 and N2, with 2 teachers, including this position.
You will prepare lesson plans and materials for both levels. The same lesson plan can be used, with the difficulty and activities adjusted to suit each level.
The centre follows a child-centred, Reggio-inspired approach, with learning through play, exploration and everyday experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Teach and manage the combined N1 and N2 group, working alongside another teacher.
Plan lessons and prepare learning materials suited to the different learning needs of both levels.
Support English language, communication and early literacy through phonics, vocabulary, stories, pre-reading and early writing activities.
Use play, art, music, movement and hands-on activities to support learning.
Provide daily routine care, supervise transitions and guide children’s behaviour calmly and respectfully.
Observe and document children’s learning, progress and development.
Communicate clearly with parents about their children’s progress and daily needs.
Maintain a safe, organised and nurturing classroom and follow the centre’s child-safety procedures.
Work with colleagues and participate in centre meetings, training and scheduled events.
Requirements
ECDA L2 English certification, or an ECDA-recognised early childhood teaching qualification with eligibility for L2 English certification, subject to ECDA assessment.
Comfortable teaching and providing routine care for both N1 and N2 in a combined group.
Able to plan age-appropriate activities and adapt lessons for different learning needs.
Good spoken and written English for English-language teaching, classroom documentation and parent communication.
Able to guide children patiently, manage classroom routines and work cooperatively with another teacher.
Comfortable with a hands-on role in a community-based preschool.
Able to work on site in Ang Mo Kio and commit reliably to rostered shifts.
Nursery or other preschool classroom experience is an advantage. Candidates with less experience may be considered if they meet the qualification requirements and can demonstrate sound classroom and routine-care skills.
Working Arrangement
Predominantly Monday to Friday, with rostered shifts within the centre’s operating hours.
No regular Saturday roster.
Occasional Saturday attendance may be required for scheduled centre events, such as open houses. Advance notice will be provided.
Application
Please submit an updated resume showing your early childhood qualifications, ECDA certification status, preschool teaching experience and the levels you have handled.
Please also indicate your earliest availability and whether you are comfortable teaching and caring for both N1 and N2.
Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
