Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and analytically-minded Data Analyst to strengthen our Group Internal Audit function. This role combines technical data expertise with audit acumen to transform complex datasets into actionable insights that drive more effective and efficient audits across the organization.

You will work at the intersection of data science and internal audit, designing data-driven audit procedures, building analytics frameworks, and presenting compelling visualizations to senior leadership. This is a high-impact position that influences audit strategy and control recommendations across the entire group.

Key Responsibilities

Audit Analytics & Data-Driven Procedures (40%)

  • Extract, clean, and analyze data from multiple sources (ERP systems, databases, data warehouses) to support audit planning and fieldwork.
  • Design and execute statistical audit procedures including sampling, anomaly detection, and trend analysis to test control effectiveness.
  • Develop data-driven audit programs that identify high-risk transactions, unusual patterns, and control exceptions.
  • Perform forensic-style analysis to investigate control failures and potential fraud indicators.

Data Visualization & Reporting (30%)

  • Create interactive dashboards and compelling visualizations to communicate audit findings to senior management and audit committees.
  • Build audit metrics dashboards for real-time monitoring of key control indicators and audit progress.
  • Translate complex data analyses into clear, business-focused narratives and executive presentations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of audit analytics methodologies to support audit trail requirements.

Analytics Automation & Process Improvement (20%)

  • Identify opportunities to automate routine audit procedures through analytics tools and scripts.
  • Develop repeatable audit templates and workflows to improve team efficiency and consistency.
  • Build audit data models and maintain reusable analytics frameworks across audit engagements.
  • Recommend enhancements to audit scopes based on data patterns and emerging risks.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Support (10%)

  • Partner with business unit leaders to understand data requirements, control environments, and audit scope.
  • Collaborate with IT and Finance teams to ensure data access, accuracy, and system integration.
  • Mentor junior audit staff on data analytics techniques and best practices.
  • Present findings and recommendations to audit committee members and senior leadership.

Job Requirements

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Professional certifications preferred: CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CPA, ACCA, or data analytics certifications (Tableau, Microsoft Certified Data Analyst).
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development in audit and analytics.

Experience

  • Mid-Junior Level: 2-4 years of experience in data analysis, business analysis, internal audit, or financial reporting roles.
  • Senior Level: 5+ years of progressive experience in audit analytics, internal audit, or enterprise data analytics with track record of designing analytics frameworks and leading audit projects.
  • Hands-on experience executing data-driven audit procedures; familiarity with audit standards (IIA, COSO, SOX) is valued.
  • Exposure to ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and accounting system architecture is an advantage.
  • Fraud investigation or forensic analysis experience is highly regarded.

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Advanced SQL & Programming: Proficiency in SQL, Python, or R with ability to write complex queries and perform statistical analysis.
  • Data Visualization: Hands-on expertise in Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools; proven ability to design effective dashboards.
  • Audit Analytics Tools: Experience with ACL, IDEA, or similar audit analytics software is essential.
  • Excel Mastery: Advanced functions including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data modeling, and automation.
  • Statistical Knowledge: Sound understanding of descriptive/inferential statistics, sampling methods, hypothesis testing, and anomaly detection.

Soft Skills & Mindset

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking ability with a skeptical, audit-focused mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with unwavering commitment to data accuracy and audit quality.
  • Collaborative team player who builds effective working relationships across functions.
  • Proactive problem-solver with drive to continuously improve processes and methodologies.
  • Self-directed learner eager to stay current with emerging technologies and audit best practices.
  • Maintains independence, objectivity, and integrity in all audit activities.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to drive audit innovation through cutting-edge data analytics techniques.
  • Exposure to diverse business functions and operating environments across the group.
  • Mentorship from experienced audit professionals and investment in your professional development.
  • Sponsorship for professional certifications (CIA, CPA, data analytics credentials).
  • Access to latest analytics tools and technologies.
  • Clear career progression pathway within audit leadership.
  • Competitive compensation package aligned with experience level and market benchmarks.
