Why Join

As a Head Accounts Payable at OCBC, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial systems and processes. You'll have the opportunity to work with various stakeholders, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes that drive efficiency and effectiveness. If you enjoy problem-solving and are passionate about process improvement, this role is for you.

How you succeed

To succeed in this role, you'll need to have a deep understanding of financial operations and a keen eye for detail. You'll work closely with various teams to identify and resolve issues, implement process improvements, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Your analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively will be essential in driving success in this role.

What you do

OCBC is reimagining its Accounts Payable (AP) function as part of Group Finance's wider transformation agenda. We are seeking a seasoned finance operations leader with extensive experience running large-scale AP or Procure-to-Pay (P2P) operations for a high-impact, one-year mandate. Candidates from banking as well as other industries are welcome to apply. In this role, you will take immediate leadership of the AP function supporting several OCBC Group entities in Singapore, operating on Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP.

Your mission is threefold: stabilise the existing AP team through the transition; co-drive the AP reimagination agenda, in partnership with the Head, Finance Operations and the AP Transformation project lead, by embedding the Bank's Automation, Digitalisation and Data (ADD) priorities and procurement-led purchasing discipline to minimise direct invoicing; and help lay the foundation for a future centralised Finance Shared Services model. You will work closely with the Bank's Risk, Compliance and Technology partners to ensure changes are well controlled and fit for a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Stabilisation & Unification: Take immediate leadership of day-to-day AP operations across the OCBC Group entities, harmonising entity-specific invoicing practices and aligning team workflows under a single, consistent operating view.
  • Oracle Fusion Optimisation: Serve as the functional owner of AP in Oracle Fusion, streamlining invoice-to-payment processing, ledger posting and multi-currency vendor payments.
  • Procurement-Led Purchasing: Partner with Group Procurement to embed purchasing through purchase orders (POs), reduce non-PO and direct invoices, and strengthen vendor onboarding and vendor master data governance.
  • Automation, Digitalisation & Data (ADD): Support the evaluation and implementation of AI-driven invoice capture, Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA), in line with the Bank's technology architecture and standards. Use data and analytics to improve spend visibility, exception management and performance tracking.
  • Governance & Internal Controls: Ensure AP workflows, system access and configurations are well controlled and aligned with Group policies. Maintain segregation of duties, audit readiness and robust fraud controls, such as controls over vendor bank detail changes and duplicate payments.
  • Shared Services Readiness: Help build the operational foundations, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), control documentation, transaction tracking, KPIs and SLAs, to prepare the multi-entity AP model for a future centralised Finance Shared Services set-up.
  • Stakeholder & Change Management: Work with the Head, Finance Operations and the AP Transformation project lead to engage stakeholders across Group Finance, Group Procurement, Group Operations & Technology, Group Risk Management, Group Compliance, Group Audit, business units and external vendors, and support the smooth adoption of changes.

Who You Are

  • Experience Profile: 20+ years in finance operations, with a significant portion spent managing high-volume AP or P2P cycles in large, multi-entity organisations, including hands-on operational leadership experience. Experience in banking, financial services or other regulated industries is an advantage but not essential.
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with a major cloud ERP; Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP (Payables, Procurement and intercompany (AGIS)) strongly preferred. Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite and P2P automation tools (e.g. Coupa, Ariba, IDP or RPA solutions) is an advantage.
  • Transformation & Migration Expertise: Proven track record of leading or playing a key role in multi-entity process standardisation, ERP or ledger integrations, or the design and set-up of a Shared Services Centre.
  • Control Mindset: Strong grounding in internal controls, audit requirements and good governance in finance operations. Familiarity with banking regulations (e.g. MAS requirements and PDPA) or GST considerations for banks is a plus.
  • Leadership & Influence: Strong people leadership and change management skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and guide teams through change.
  • Credentials: Degree in Accountancy, Finance or an equivalent business discipline. Professional qualifications such as CA (Singapore), CPA or ACCA are strongly preferred.
