With a strong network of suppliers and clients across Asia, we are now seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to take our business to the next level.

About the Role

We are looking for a Managing Director to lead our company's operations, drive business growth, and oversee all aspects of purchasing, quality control, and team management. The ideal candidate will have deep industry knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in the diamond and gemstone trade.

This is a senior executive position requiring a hands-on leader who can manage the day-to-day operations while also setting the strategic direction of the company.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership

• Provide overall leadership and direction for the company
• Develop and implement business strategies to achieve growth targets
• Represent the company in all legal, financial, and commercial matters
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers, and clients
• Report regularly to the Board of Directors on company performance

Purchasing & Procurement

• Lead all diamond and gemstone purchasing activities
• Identify reliable suppliers and negotiate favorable terms
• Monitor global market trends and pricing to make informed buying decisions
• Ensure timely delivery of materials to support production and sales

Quality Control & Assessment

• Oversee quality checks on all incoming diamonds and gemstones
• Ensure categorization, grading, and assorting meet company standards
• Maintain the highest levels of quality across all products
• Keep accurate records of all purchases and assessments

Team Management & Training

• Supervise and manage the purchasing and quality control team
• Provide hands-on training on diamond grading, sorting, and quality assessment
• Develop work schedules and assign tasks to ensure smooth operations
• Foster a positive and productive work environment

Business Development

• Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to align purchasing with business objectives
• Explore new markets and opportunities for growth
• Maintain relationships with key suppliers and industry contacts

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Minimum 15 years of experience in the gems and jewellery industry
• Prior experience in a senior management or executive role
• Experience as a Legal Representative or similar position is an advantage
• Formal training in diamond and gemstone identification, grading, and assessment is highly desirable

Skills & Knowledge

• In-depth knowledge of diamonds, gemstones, and jewellery
• Strong understanding of market trends, pricing, and supplier networks
• Expertise in quality control, grading, and assorting
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to manage and train a team effectively
• Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities

• Detail-oriented with a keen eye for quality
• Calm under pressure and able to handle busy periods
• Responsible and committed to meeting deadlines
• Respectful and fair in dealing with staff and colleagues

Language & Location

• Must be based in Hong Kong or willing to relocate
• Proficiency in English required; knowledge of Cantonese, Mandarin, or Hindi is an advantage
