Quality Assurance Specialist – Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Specialist ensures that all incoming, in-process, and outgoing products meet our quality standards and customer specifications. This experienced professional performs inspections on the production floor, documents and follows up on non-conformances, and maintains accurate quality records to support regulatory compliance.

We are looking for someone with proven hands-on experience in a quality control or quality assurance role, ideally within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is confident using measurement and inspection equipment, reading technical drawings and specifications, and working to established quality procedures. They bring a sharp eye for detail, sound judgement on when product should be held or rejected, and the confidence to raise issues with production and suppliers so problems are fixed at the root.

Key Responsibilities

Incoming material inspection

  • Inspect all materials received from suppliers (GRN), verifying dimensions, thickness, weight, quantity, and identification against purchase orders and supplier documentation such as mill certificates and certificates of conformance.
  • Measure and record actual dimensions and weights in the system, and report any discrepancies or non-conforming materials to the Quality Engineer before acceptance.

In-process and final inspection

  • Carry out first-piece, in-process (IPQC), and final inspections in line with the quality sampling plan to confirm products meet engineering drawings, work orders, and customer specifications.
  • Use precision measuring instruments, including Vernier calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, and other inspection equipment, to verify compliance and accurately record results.
  • Ensure measuring instruments are in good condition and within their calibration date before use.
  • Verify product quantities and confirm correct identification labels are applied to prevent material mix-ups and incorrect customer deliveries.

Non-conformance and corrective action

  • Identify, document, and immediately report non-conforming products, process deviations, and quality concerns to the Quality and Production teams.
  • Support root cause analysis and follow up on corrective and preventive actions to confirm they are implemented and effective.
  • Take part in production walkabouts with the production and quality teams to monitor process compliance and identify quality issues early.

Records, traceability and reporting

  • Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure full traceability of inspection results and quality documentation.
  • Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to prepare inspection reports, analyse quality data for trends, and develop presentation materials for quality reviews and improvement activities.

Continuous improvement

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including quality improvement projects, process standardisation, and problem-solving activities.

Safety and housekeeping

  • Maintain good housekeeping in the inspection and production areas.
  • Follow company safety procedures, wear the required PPE, and help maintain a safe working environment.
