We are seeking a technically competent ICT Fibre Infrastructure Design Engineer to develop and coordinate fiber optic infrastructure designs for hyperscale data centres, commercial buildings and enterprise environments.
The candidate must possess strong technical knowledge of fiber distribution architecture, high-density connectivity, optical performance and engineering design standards, with the ability to develop practical, scalable and technically compliant solutions from concept through detailed design and Issued for Construction (IFC) documentation.
This position focuses on design engineering, not site implementation or installation supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Fibre Infrastructure Design: Develop backbone, campus, inter-building, intra-building and data hall fiber distribution designs, including MMR, MDF, IDF, ODF and equipment connectivity.
- Connectivity Engineering: Design LC, SC, MPO/MTP and MMC connectivity systems, including MPO-12/16, MMC-16/24, polarity, pre-terminated trunks, patching and high-density distribution architecture.
- Optical Engineering: Prepare optical loss budgets, link performance calculations, fiber core allocation and connectivity mapping.
- Engineering Documentation: Develop fiber topology diagrams, routing layouts, connectivity schematics, cable schedules, equipment schedules, BOQs and technical specifications.
- Design Compliance: Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable TIA, ISO/IEC, IEC and BICSI standards, project requirements and manufacturer specifications.
- Design Coordination: Coordinate with clients, architects, M&E consultants, ICT network teams, CAD/BIM personnel and other engineering disciplines.
- Design Review & Delivery: Identify technical design risks, resolve interface discrepancies and prepare coordinated tender and IFC design packages.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in fiber optic infrastructure design, structured cabling design or ICT connectivity engineering.
- Diploma or Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, ICT or related discipline; equivalent relevant technical qualifications and design experience will be considered.
- Strong knowledge of OS2, OM3, OM4, OM5 fiber types, distribution systems and high-density connectivity.
- Familiarity with LC, SC, MPO/MTP connectivity; MMC knowledge is an advantage.
- Able to prepare and interpret fiber topology diagrams, core allocation schedules, connectivity matrices and optical loss budgets.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and engineering design documentation; BIM coordination knowledge is an advantage.
- Familiar with applicable ICT infrastructure design standards and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Strong analytical thinking, technical problem-solving and communication skills.
Professional Certifications – Preferred
- BICSI: RCDD, DCDC or other relevant ICT design credentials.
- FOA: CFOS/D, CFOT or equivalent fiber optic certification.
- Other recognized certifications in fiber optic infrastructure or structured cabling design.
What We Value
- We seek a detail-oriented, technically capable and accountable design engineer who can develop practical engineering solutions, take ownership of design quality, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and continuously improve technical expertise.
