Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of mechanical and electrical systems within a manufacturing facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, managing preventive maintenance activities, coordinating contractors, and ensuring all M&E systems comply with safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, and facilities within the manufacturing plant.
- Perform troubleshooting and corrective maintenance for mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability.
- Monitor the performance of critical M&E systems and identify potential failures or improvement opportunities.
- Support installation, commissioning, testing, and upgrading of new machinery and facility systems.
- Coordinate and supervise external contractors, service providers, and maintenance teams.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical panels, motors, pumps, compressors, HVAC systems, generators, and other facility equipment.
- Ensure maintenance activities are carried out safely and according to company procedures.
- Prepare maintenance reports, equipment records, work orders, and documentation.
- Assist in planning maintenance budgets, spare parts requirements, and equipment replacement.
- Investigate equipment breakdowns and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring issues.
- Support energy-saving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant DOSH/JKKP, Suruhanjaya Tenaga, environmental, and workplace safety requirements where applicable.
- Work closely with Production, EHS, Quality, and other departments to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Provide technical guidance and training to technicians and maintenance personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, M&E Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Preferably 2–5 years of experience in M&E engineering, manufacturing, facilities, or industrial maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and industrial equipment.
- Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems effectively.
- Experience in contractor and maintenance team management is an advantage.
- Knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems, motors, pumps, compressors, HVAC, utilities, and facility systems will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with PLC, BMS, CMMS/Maintenance Management Systems, or similar systems is an advantage.
- Good understanding of workplace safety and relevant Malaysian regulations.
- Good communication, analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
- Able to work independently and support operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willing to work shifts, standby, or overtime when required.
