Hitachi Energy is looking for a Project Quality Engineer to join our team in Malaysia, based in our Petaling Jaya office.
In this role, you will plan, organize, lead and monitor quality activities across projects, ensuring contractual quality requirements are aligned with Hitachi Energy's project quality management system. You will work closely with project teams and customers to drive Quality Assurance and Quality Control throughout project execution, helping us achieve project objectives and customer satisfaction.
The position is based in the Petaling Jaya office and will require travel to project sites when needed, including locations such as Johor Bahru and Sarawak, as discussed during the intake.
How you'll make an impact
- Prepare for and participate in internal and external Project Kick-Off Meetings to evaluate contractual quality obligations, clarifications and deviations.
- Develop, implement and follow up the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and other project-specific quality documentation.
- Participate in Project Stage Gates and support the implementation and documentation of lessons learned and mitigation actions.
- Act as the main interface with customers for Project Quality matters.
- Drive a strong Quality culture covering both Quality Assurance and Quality Control throughout project execution.
- Initiate and follow up project quality audits in accordance with customer and Hitachi Energy requirements.
- Support the customer satisfaction process and maintain oversight of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and Project Budget Saving activities.
- Ensure the project's non-conformance management process is properly applied and support resolution of NCRs.
- Monitor and report Project Quality KPIs, including NCR, CCRP, COPQ, Lessons Learned and T-NPS.
- Provide Quality input for Project Review Meetings.
- Support site quality activities, including review and validation of ITPs, ITRs, inspection processes, NCR processes, equipment preservation, punch lists and documentation handover.
- Validate the execution of Inspection and Test Plans during civil works, installation and commissioning.
- Support project close-out and ensure lessons learned are appropriately captured.
Your background
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a scientific discipline. Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in an EPC project-based environment within large and complex organizations, with 10 years' experience preferred.
- Experience within power, energy, renewable or data center sectors is preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, with Lead Auditor certification preferred.
- General knowledge of project management, including risk management.
- Practical experience with PQP, MTP, ITP, inspections, test procedures, punch lists, mechanical completion, lessons learned, COPQ and customer voice/T-NPS processes.
- Good working knowledge of quality and problem-solving methodologies including 8D, RCA, PDCA, 5W, L6S and FMEA.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings are preferred.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Additional languages are an advantage.
- Knowledge of Salesforce, customer feedback processes and Microsoft Office applications.
