QA/QC Engineer
Job Summary
The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all quality assurance and quality control activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, project specifications, industry standards, and company procedures. The role covers the development and implementation of quality plans, inspection and testing activities, quality documentation, audit coordination, non-conformance management, and liaison with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
The QA/QC Engineer will also support continuous improvement initiatives and work closely with project and site teams to ensure that quality requirements are consistently achieved throughout project execution or production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Assurance
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
- Prepare and maintain Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), Method Statements, and other quality-related documents.
- Establish and implement quality procedures to ensure incoming materials, work-in-progress, and completed works/products comply with approved specifications and requirements.
- Plan and conduct internal quality audits and coordinate/support external audits, including ISO, client, consultant, and third-party audits.
- Develop, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions, and other controlled quality documents.
- Provide quality-related training, briefings, and guidance to employees and relevant project personnel.
- Promote quality awareness and ensure quality requirements are understood and implemented by project/site teams.
2. Quality Control
- Conduct site or production inspections, material inspections, and sampling activities to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, standards, and project requirements.
- Perform quality inspections and checks for relevant disciplines, including welding, electrical works, mechanical works, construction works, or other applicable activities.
- Review and verify inspection and testing results against specified acceptance criteria.
- Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) and follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) until satisfactory closure.
- Monitor testing, inspection, and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with approved quality requirements.
- Review and verify material certificates, test reports, inspection records, and other quality documentation.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, third-party inspectors, and regulatory authorities on quality-related matters.
3. Quality Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain proper control and filing of all QA/QC records, inspection reports, test results, calibration certificates, material certificates, and other quality documentation.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly QA/QC reports for management, clients, consultants, and other relevant parties.
- Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely submission and approval of quality documentation.
- Review and manage quality submissions, including Work Inspection Requests (WIR), Material Inspection Requests (MIR), inspection checklists, test reports, and related records.
- Ensure QA/QC documentation is complete, accurate, traceable, and maintained in accordance with company and project requirements.
4. Compliance & Standards
- Ensure project and production activities comply with applicable local and international standards, regulatory requirements, contractual requirements, and technical specifications.
- Maintain awareness of relevant standards and requirements, including ISO, ASTM, JKR, CIDB, DOSH, and other applicable industry standards.
- Review project specifications, drawings, approved documents, and contractual quality requirements to identify applicable inspection and testing requirements.
- Monitor third-party testing and inspection activities and verify that results comply with specified acceptance criteria.
- Verify material certifications and ensure materials used on projects meet approved specifications and requirements.
- Support the project team in addressing quality-related technical and compliance issues.
5. Project & Continuous Improvement Support
- Participate in project kick-off meetings, site meetings, toolbox meetings, quality briefings, and other relevant coordination meetings.
- Monitor and review subcontractors' and suppliers' quality activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Identify recurring quality issues and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving quality, reducing defects, and enhancing work processes.
- Provide technical and quality support to project/site teams where required.
- Perform other quality-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering, preferably in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Quality Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of relevant QA/QC experience in the construction, electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, or engineering industry.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, QMS requirements, quality control processes, and audit practices.
- Familiarity with quality tools and techniques such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and corrective/preventive action processes.
- Ability to interpret and understand technical drawings, specifications, standards, inspection requirements, and method statements.
- Knowledge of relevant inspection, testing, and material certification requirements.
- Good documentation, reporting, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin would be an added advantage.
- Proficient in relevant reporting and documentation tools, including Microsoft Office and other project/quality management systems where applicable.
- Willingness to travel to project sites or work locations as required.

Pay: RM4,100.00 - RM5,500.00 per month
Work Location: In person
