Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, MIA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and applicable accounting standards.
  • Good understanding of internal controls, reconciliations, inventory accounting and month-end closing processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
  • Minimum 6–8 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Experience managing a General Ledger / Financial Reporting function in a medium to large organisation.
  • Hands-on experience in month-end and year-end closing and preparation of management and financial reports.
  • Experience managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Experience in inventory accounting, stock adjustments, stock consumption and cost of sales is highly preferred.
  • Experience working closely with Supply Chain, Warehouse, Procurement or Operations on inventory-related accounting matters is an advantage.
  • Experience in a high-volume, multi-entity or fast-paced environment is highly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP implementation, finance system enhancement or process improvement projects is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in leading, developing and managing a team.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of General Ledger, month-end closing and balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Good knowledge of inventory accounting, stock movements, stock adjustments, stock consumption and COGS.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Ability to identify accounting issues, investigate root causes and drive timely resolution.
  • Good understanding of internal controls and accounting processes.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within tight reporting deadlines.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Process-oriented with a strong interest in improving systems, controls and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, accounting accuracy and compliance. Lead the General Ledger & Reporting team, strengthen accounting processes and controls, drive process improvements and collaborate with Finance, Supply Chain and business stakeholders to ensure timely and reliable financial information for management decision-making.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the General Ledger & Reporting team, including coaching, performance management and development of team members.
  • Oversee the full month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring accurate and timely completion of accounting activities. Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, provisions, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany balances and other GL transactions.
  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial reports and relevant financial analysis.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy and proper classification of accounting transactions in accordance with applicable accounting standards and Group policies.
  • Monitor and resolve long-outstanding reconciling items and ensure timely account reconciliation and clearance.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliation across Group entities, including identification and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain team to review, validate and record inventory adjustments and stock consumption, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment and accurate reflection of inventory and cost of sales.
  • Review inventory-related movements and investigate significant or unusual stock adjustments and consumption variances in collaboration with Supply Chain and relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Supply Chain and other Finance teams to ensure smooth month-end closing and accurate financial reporting.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents and other professional advisers on audit, statutory reporting and accounting matters.
  • Support the preparation of annual financial statements and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Establish and strengthen accounting controls, policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting and reporting processes, reducing manual work and improving efficiency.
  • Support finance system enhancements, implementation and integration projects where required.
  • Provide accounting guidance and technical support to the Finance team and business stakeholders. Assist the Head of Finance in financial analysis, reporting and other ad-hoc projects as required.
