We are seeking a Paralegal to join our Asset Finance (Shipping) practice in Singapore. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the team on a broad range of ship finance and offshore transactions, working closely with fee earners across the practice. 

The Role

• Drafting and preparing finance documents, corporate authorisations, legal opinions and other ancillary financing documents.
• Registering and deregistering charges with the relevant registries.
• Liaising with clients, foreign counsels, flag state registries and other relevant stakeholders.
• Proof-reading, formatting and cross-checking documents for accuracy and consistency.
• Checking and preparing conditions precedent reports and closing checklists.
• Compiling and organising transaction bibles.
• Assisting with the consolidation and updating of know-how materials, precedent databases and legal research.

Skills and Experience Required

• Prior experience as a paralegal or legal executive in an asset finance, shipping or banking and finance practice within a law firm is required.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred, to facilitate communication with Mandarin-speaking clients and counterparties.
• Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite and competence in legal research tools.
• Good academic record.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage a demanding workload with competing deadlines.
• A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with the initiative to take ownership of tasks.
• Willingness to work flexibly and adapt to a wide variety of assignments
