Hegen Hiring! Full Time Senior Industrial Designer in - Ricebowl

We are looking for a creative and forward-thinking Senior Industrial Designer to lead the design and development of our next generation of consumer products.

In this role, you will bring together human-centred design, engineering and commercial thinking to transform meaningful insights into innovative, functional and production-ready solutions. From identifying unmet user needs to translating concepts into tangible products, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Hegen’s product innovation journey.

Responsibilities

Product Design & Innovation

• Lead the end-to-end industrial design process, from concept development and prototyping through to production-ready designs.
• Translate consumer insights and unmet needs into innovative, intuitive and commercially viable product solutions.
• Develop and communicate design concepts through sketches, storyboards, 3D models, renderings and physical prototypes.
• Balance aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics, safety and manufacturability to deliver thoughtful, user-centred designs.
  
  

Consumer Research & Design Validation

• Plan and conduct user research, interviews and usability studies with new and expectant parents to understand their needs, behaviours and challenges.
• Analyse qualitative and quantitative findings to identify opportunities and inform design decisions.
• Evaluate and refine concepts through iterative prototyping, usability testing and product validation.
• Champion an evidence-based approach to design, ensuring solutions are grounded in meaningful consumer insights.
  
  

Product Development & Manufacturing

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Commercial, Marketing and Quality, as well as external manufacturers and development partners.
• Evaluate materials, finishes and manufacturing processes to optimise product performance, quality, sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
• Translate design concepts into technically feasible, scalable and production-ready solutions.
• Ensure design integrity and adherence to Hegen’s standards of safety, quality and user experience throughout the development process.
  
  

Design Leadership & Collaboration

• Present design concepts, development proposals and recommendations through compelling visual storytelling and clear design rationale.
• Drive design projects with strong ownership, attention to detail and accountability for timelines and deliverables.
• Mentor junior designers, share technical expertise and contribute to a culture of creativity, collaboration and design excellence.
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant industrial or product design experience, preferably in consumer goods, FMCG, healthcare or lifestyle products.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product development, including products successfully brought from concept to mass production.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and surface modelling software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or Rhino.
• Ability to rapidly conceptualise, visualise and communicate design ideas in both 2D and 3D.
• Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and design for mass production, particularly plastics and silicone.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping tools and techniques, including 3D printing, CNC machining and laser cutting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to balance creativity, technical feasibility and commercial considerations.
• Excellent visual communication, presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and influence stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with rendering and animation software such as KeyShot and After Effects is an advantage.
• A curious, resourceful and adaptable mindset, with a passion for continuous improvement and creating meaningful solutions through design.
