Summary: The successful candidate will work with engineering teams to drive next-generation automation solutions for database platforms: evolving legacy systems while leading build, integration,and migration to cloud-native, open-source, AI/agent-powered platforms. The candidate is expected to combine deep technical credibility with visionary leadership and the ability to partner with application, AI, analytics, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and own a multi-year strategic roadmap for Database platforms aligned with business goals (e.g., cloud migration, cost optimisation, latency SLAs, AI/ML readiness). 
• Expertise in database architecture for Oracle, MSSQL, and Postgres, with knowledge of modern database platforms (CockroachDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, Databricks, etc.). 
• Drive adoption of AI/agentic/AIOps capabilities, e.g., anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, self-healing, auto-scaling of databases, and automated patching. 
• Develop a comprehensive multi-year technical vision for the organisation’s global database strategy,aligning with overall business objectives and investment strategies. 
• Build end-to-end observability for database platforms using modern platforms (Grafana, Datadog or equivalent).
• Drive the adoption of cloud-native patterns for database services and databases on AWS or equivalent, while ensuring the continued stability and security of critical on-premises applications and data. 
• Build self-service capabilitiesin database space via UI and API based solutions which are secure and canbe consumed by end users and applications. 
• Enforce enterprise information security protocols, audit hardening, and patch vulnerabilities for database components. 
• Automate operational tasks andinfrastructure changes using Python, Ansible, or PowerShell. 
• Analyze customerrequirements to ensure all standards, policies and guidelines are upheld fromthe information security perspective and support routine complianceactivities.
• Ability to analyse information security procedures and help implement them across IT and the business. Thorough understanding of industry and corporate technology standards for Information Security. Strong judgment and decision-making skills. 
• Adoption of DBRE and Agile methodologies in day-to-day tasks. 

Skillset Requirements

• Skilled database and application development professional with at least 10 years of experience in IT and at least 8 years of hands-on experience in middleware, web hosting, and application server products in a large organisation, preferably a banking environment.
• Solid knowledge in administering database products, i.e. Oracle, MSSQL, Postgres, CockroachDB,Cassandra, NeptuneDB, etc.
• Experience in IT security compliance and implementation and use of security protocols (SSL, server certificates, etc.).
• Good experience using Python, Ansible, SQL and Shell/Perl Scripting.
• Experience with Unix system administration with understanding of underlying network and storage technologies. 
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Hands-on experience in at least one public Cloud, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. 
• Success attributes include initiative, the ability to perform under pressure, strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, as well as analytical problem-solvingabilities.
• Proficiency in working onLinux/Unix and Windows systems.
• Managing support services and change management using ServiceNow.
• Experience in DevOps and CI/CDpipelines using Jenkins or equivalent.
• Experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, such as writing, testing, and deploying clean, reusable Terraform modules.
