Senior Data Engineer (SAS / Data Warehouse)

Salary: up to RM11,000 per month

About the Role
Our client, a well-established organisation in Kuala Lumpur, is looking for a Senior Data Engineer with strong SAS and SQL skills to lead its Enterprise Data Warehouse and ETL development. You will act as the data architect and technical lead for the Data Engineering team, reporting to the Head of Big Data & Analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, ETL pipelines and analytics solutions using SAS (Base SAS, SAS DI Studio, SAS Macro) and SQL.
• Provide technical leadership to the Data Engineering team, ensuring data solutions are secure, consistent, reliable and sustainable.
• Define development guidelines, standards and best practices for data management and data pipelines to ensure performance, stability and scalability.
• Assess and implement new Data Management and Data Integration capabilities to improve end-user experience and process efficiency.
• Lead Data Engineering and BI projects: gather requirements from business and technical users, review source system schemas and analyse requirements.
• Review technical design documents (integration specifications, data models, data marts, BI reports and dashboards).
• Oversee support of the Data Warehouse, BI reporting and data integration with internal and external systems, delivering within SLA.
• Guide and mentor team members to maintain a high-performance culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, Data Warehouse, Data Lake or Business Intelligence.
• Strong hands-on SAS programming skills (Base SAS, SAS DI Studio, SAS Macro).
• Strong SQL skills (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or similar).
• Strong experience in data warehouse design, data modelling, ETL design and optimisation, and performance tuning.
• Experience designing enterprise ETL and data integration solutions.
• Experience with data governance, data security and data quality frameworks.
• Experience analysing production deployments, improving data quality and recommending optimisations.
• Able to lead technical discussions and architecture reviews.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, and able to explain technical topics in business terms.
• Able to work independently and in a team.

Pay: Up to RM11,000.00 per month
