Job Description

Responsibilities

Company Description The Nucleic Acid Therapeutics Initiative (NATi) is a national platform dedicated to establishing Singapore as a regional hub for nucleic acid therapeutics research, clinical translation, and commercialization. NATi focuses on developing therapies that harness RNA and other nucleic acids to treat a wide range of diseases. The initiative brings together multidisciplinary teams and strategic partners across academia, healthcare, and industry. By advancing innovative nucleic acid-based medicines, NATi aims to improve health outcomes and deliver tangible benefits to people in Singapore and the wider region.

Role Description The Scientist I/II – Cardiovascular & Metabolic Diseases Pharmacology is a full-time, on-site role based in Singapore. This position focuses on designing and executing preclinical pharmacology studies to evaluate nucleic acid therapeutics for cardiovascular and metabolic indications. Day-to-day responsibilities may include planning and conducting in vitro and in vivo experiments, analyzing and interpreting data, and generating clear study reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. The scientist will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in biology, chemistry, and clinical translation to refine therapeutic targets and optimize lead candidates. Additional duties may involve contributing to protocol development, ensuring adherence to ethical and regulatory standards, and supporting publications, grant applications, and project documentation.

Qualifications

  • Advanced training in pharmacology, physiology, or related biomedical sciences, preferably with emphasis on cardiovascular and/or metabolic diseases (PhD or Master’s with relevant experience).
  • Experience designing and performing in vivo and in vitro pharmacology studies in disease models relevant to cardiovascular or metabolic disorders.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and methods (e.g., statistical software, graphing tools) and the ability to interpret complex biological datasets.
  • Familiarity with nucleic acid therapeutics, such as RNA-based drugs, antisense oligonucleotides, or gene modulation approaches, is highly advantageous.
  • Strong documentation, scientific writing, and presentation skills for reporting results, preparing manuscripts, and communicating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional research environments, manage timelines, and adapt to evolving project priorities.
  • Understanding of relevant ethical, biosafety, and regulatory requirements for preclinical research, including proper handling of laboratory animals and biological materials.
  • Curiosity-driven mindset, commitment to scientific rigor, and motivation to contribute to translational research that advances new therapies for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
