Role Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Team Coaching
• Motivate and manage a team of sales reps across Malaysia to consistently achieve and exceed monthly sales targets and distribution KPIs.
• Conduct regular joint field visits (3–4 days/week) to coach reps on sales pitching, objection handling, route planning, and call productivity.
• Establish clear account targets, call-cycle standards, and daily KPI tracking.
• Lead, coach, and mentor the sales team, fostering their professional growth and enhancing their performance.
Sales Performance Management
• Develop and implement short- and long-term strategic sales plans to achieve company sales revenue targets.
• Monitor and evaluate the sales performance of the team, ensuring individual and team targets are consistently met.
• Conduct structured weekly/monthly reviews to evaluate performance, address gaps, and provide feedback for improvement.
• Manage and monitor progress of sales activities, including market hygiene versus client budget and store call cycles.
• Analyze sales trends, lost sales data, competitor trade schemes, and pricing strategies to make agile, data-driven trade adjustments.
• Provide accurate monthly sales and stock forecasting to support inventory and supply chain planning.
Channel & Commercial Strategy (Independent Pharmacies)
• Develop and execute trade promotions, bulk-purchase deals, listing schemes, and seasonal push programs designed to maximize trade load-in and retailer margin satisfaction.
• Oversee sell-in strategies while driving sell-out through counter-top placement, point-of-sale marketing (POSM), window displays, and pharmacist/clinic-assistant education.
• Expand numerical and weighted distribution by securing new independent pharmacy accounts, buying groups, and regional chains.
• Identify product gaps and improvement opportunities based on lost sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to implement customized solutions.
Account & Trade Operations Management
• Build and maintain direct commercial relationships with top-tier independent pharmacy owners, key decision-makers, buying alliances, and stakeholders across Malaysia to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.
• Lead commercial negotiations, assist in deal closing, resolve customer issues promptly, and recommend preventive actions to minimize future incidents.
• Monitor customer credit terms, payment health, and stock rotation to minimize bad debts and product returns/expiries.
• Partner closely with supply chain and distribution partners to ensure smooth order processing, stock fulfilment and trade billing.
Operations & Compliance
• Maintain an updated customer database and accurately log sales activities in the CRM.
• Monitor customer inventory levels and coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure product availability.
• Submit timely expense claims, call reports, sales reports, and other required documentation.
• Conduct all sales and promotional activities in strict compliance with Malaysian healthcare regulatory requirements and company policies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or equivalent.
• Minimum 6–8 years of FMCG / Pharmaceutical / OTC healthcare sales experience, with at least 3 years in a team lead or managerial capacity.
• Strong, proven track record working directly with the Independent Pharmacy trade in Malaysia. Core Competencies & Skills
• Expert understanding of trade margins, bonus structures, retail deal mechanics, and sell-in/sell- out dynamics.
• Hands-on coach who leads from the front, comfortable spending significant time in the field with reps.
• Outstanding deal-closing, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with local business owners and key trade partners.
• Analytical skills and business acumen to interpret sales data, conduct territory analysis, and make strategic decisions.
• Proficient in route planning, MS Excel, CRM systems, and sales tools for planning and reporting purposes.
• Ability to work, travel independently, and adapt to dynamic environments.
Mobility & Languages
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia; proficiency in Mandarin and/or local dialects is a major asset for building rapport with independent pharmacy owners.
• Must possess a valid driving license, own car, and willingness to travel outstation across Malaysia as required for field coaching and account management.
