Consumer & Market Insights Manager, APAC

Asia Pacific is where beverages move fastest, with new formats, occasions and flavor territories often emerging well ahead of the rest of the world. Symrise is looking for a Beverage Insights Lead to make sense of these shifts for the business and its customers and to help shape what comes next.

Based in Singapore and reporting to the Head of Consumer & Sensory Insights APAC, you will own beverage insights across the region excluding China. You will set the research direction, run each project end to end and translate the findings into clear recommendations, working with the Category Lead on the agenda. Your insights will inspire product innovation that creates drinks that people love and support by strong technical and insights teams.

The Position:

  • Set the research agenda for APAC beverages, deciding which questions are worth answering and building an in-dept, up-to-the-minute understanding of the category in the region
  • Prioritise requests from commercial and technical teams and add questions nobody thought to ask
  • Keep a current, working understanding of APAC beverage categories including what is launching, what is growing, what consumers are drinking and why and which flavors are shaping the category and why
  • Choose the research method and run it end to end, drawing on syndicated data and our in-house AI-enabled insights platform.
  • Own quantitative and qualitative studies that uncover the insights that matter most to consumers
  • Translate findings into concrete beverage propositions including flavor directions, taste profiles, formats and positioning then work with flavorists, technical and sensory colleagues to bring them to life
  • Give category teams clear direction, not just findings
  • Present recommendations to internal stakeholders and customers, leading the conversation as the consumer and category expert in the room
  • Run co-creation and ideation sessions that move teams from insight to concept
  • Bring in new methods including AI-enabled approaches to discovery, analysis and storytelling, improving how we work, not only what we deliver.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 7-10 years of experience in consumer insights, market research, category management or related field, ideally across multiple APAC markets and their local nuances
  • Food & beverage category experience; beverages specifically is a strong plus
  • Hands-on experience across quantitative, qualitative, social listening and desk research with the ability to design, analyse and deliver studies independently.
  • Proven ownership of a category or research agenda, with sound judgement on what is worth researching
  • A track record of translating findings into product concepts and clear recommendations, supported by exposure to sensory science, product development or data science
  • Confident presenting to senior stakeholders and customers including when recommendations differ from their expectations, with workshop or co-creation facilitation experience an advantage.
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills with the ability to build compelling visual stories from data; knowledge of Power BI, Tableau or coding and practical use of AI tools in research are a plus.
  • Curious about products and people and energized by defining the direction of a category and shaping products that do not yet exist.
