Power Trader, APAC (Japan or Australia)

Our client is a well-capitalized trading firm looking to add an experienced Power Trader to its growing APAC team, with a focus on either the Japanese or Australian electricity markets.

Power Trader Responsibilities

• Develop and execute trading strategies across Japanese (JEPX) or Australian (NEM) power markets, including spot and forward products.
• Identify pricing inefficiencies across regions, products, and time horizons.
• Manage risk and P&L, with a strong focus on disciplined execution.
• Leverage market fundamentals (supply/demand, weather, outages, generation mix) alongside quantitative models.
• Collaborate with analytics and fundamentals teams to enhance trading performance.

Power Trader Requirements

• Proven track record trading Japanese or Australian power markets.
• Strong understanding of JEPX or NEM market structures, regulations, and trading dynamics.
• Experience across spot and/or forward power products.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skill set.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ownership of risk and P&L.
