Position Summary
The Project / Commercial Engineer will drive projects from the tendering and design phase through to delivery. This dual technical-commercial role requires managing project documentation, tender compliance, AutoCAD drafting, client progress reports, and budget/cost monitoring.
Key Responsibilities & Job Scope
1. Tender Management & Commercial Compliance
- Analyze technical specifications from newly received government or commercial tenders.
- Prepare comprehensive Schedules of Compliance, technical catalogs, and data sheets detailing chassis specs and customized engineering equipment.
- Support the estimation team by calculating material costs (steel, specialized vehicle components) to ensure highly competitive yet profitable bidding.
2. Engineering Design & Documentation Control
- Utilize AutoCAD to draft initial vehicle profiles, equipment layouts, and custom structural drawings based on client requirements.
- Manage all project documentation, including Requests for Information (RFIs), technical submittals, and modification variations.
- Maintain detailed project catalogs and final operations manuals to hand over to clients upon delivery.
3. Project Monitoring & Site Coordination
- Monitor project timelines, progress metrics, and budget deliverables to ensure deadlines are met without cost overruns.
- Conduct routine workshop and site visits alongside the project leader to audit fabrication progress and build quality against the blueprints.
- Act as the technical liaison between the client's engineering representatives and Artabara’s internal workshop fabrication team.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a business-engineering equivalent.
- Experienced Level: 2–3 years of experience in project engineering, estimating, or tendering within the automotive bodywork, steel fabrication, or manufacturing industries.
- Skills:
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Project).
- Strong understanding of commercial budgeting, technical drawings, and contract documents.
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
