Field Support Technician

Job Purpose

Provide on-site technical, maintenance and operational support for installed training systems and equipment. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, safe to operate and ready for scheduled training activities.

Reporting Line

Report to the Site Lead and work closely with the Operations Manager, site support personnel and training units to ensure smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform basic preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on training systems and equipment, including fixed and Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras, Universal Controllers, UC Lite units, UC cameras, targetry systems, Battlefield Effect Systems and Building Instrumentation Systems.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance according to approved maintenance checklists and report any defects requiring further technical attention.
• Perform battery charging, equipment condition checks and readiness inspections to ensure equipment is operational.
• Identify and report equipment discrepancies, damage or loss, including obtaining written statements from users where necessary.
• Assist with the transportation of equipment between warehouses and designated work sites.
• Support annual stocktaking and maintain proper records of assigned equipment and inventory.
• Provide cross-site operational and technical support when required.
• Adhere strictly to all site safety, security and operational procedures.

Candidate Requirements

• Higher NITEC or Diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Information Technology or other related technical disciplines.
• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Candidates with relevant experience in field support, equipment maintenance, system operations or technical support will have an added advantage.
• Basic knowledge of electronic, networked or electromechanical equipment and troubleshooting.
• Able to understand and follow technical instructions, maintenance checklists and operational procedures.
• Good communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Responsible, independent, detail-oriented and safety-conscious.
• Physically fit and comfortable handling equipment, working outdoors and travelling between work sites when required.
• Willing to support training activities outside normal office hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays when operationally required.
• Must be able to obtain G50 security clearance to qualify for CAT 1 clearance.
