Job Description

Responsibilities

Why Nexus Global Operator / Why Now

  • Shape the financial and corporate foundations that enable Nexus Global Operator to operate effectively
  • Build fit-for-purpose governance, controls and corporate services for a lean organization operating in a critical payments environment
  • Influence how financial resources, vendors and operating commitments are governed as the organization grows
  • Work directly with the CEO, Board, shareholders and external partners on decisions that matter to financial sustainability and governance
  • Create scalable ways of working across finance, procurement, corporate administration and outsourced services

TL;DR

  • Own the end-to-end finance and corporate services agenda, with direct accountability for financial control, reporting, planning and governance
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, treasury and management reporting, turning financial information into clear decisions for the CEO and Board
  • Shape procurement and vendor governance, from sourcing and approvals through contracting, spend oversight and performance
  • Drive corporate administration and coordinate company secretarial, Board governance and HR administration requirements
  • Decide how outsourced providers are governed and challenged to deliver accurate, timely and audit-ready outcomes
  • Build the controls, visibility and operating discipline needed for a lean organization to scale with confidence

Why This Role Matters

  • Give the CEO and Board a clear, trusted view of financial performance, cash position, commitments and emerging risks
  • Protect the organization through strong financial controls, accounting discipline and regulatory compliance
  • Ensure resources are deployed deliberately by connecting budgets, workforce plans, technology costs and vendor commitments
  • Establish procurement and corporate governance that balances commercial speed with appropriate control
  • Keep Board, shareholder, audit and statutory obligations moving without creating unnecessary organizational complexity
  • Create a dependable corporate services backbone that allows the wider organization to focus on operating the Nexus platform

What You Will Actually Do

  • Own monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, management accounts, year-end close, statutory reporting and ledger integrity
  • Lead annual budgets, forecasts, scenario modelling, cash-flow planning and financial assessments for strategic decisions
  • Build and maintain financial controls, policies and audit readiness, and drive findings through to sustainable closure
  • Shape procurement governance across sourcing, vendor due diligence, approvals, contracts, purchasing, invoice controls and financial commitments
  • Lead corporate administration and outsourced service delivery across facilities, insurance, payroll, benefits, employee administration and general support
  • Coordinate the external Company Secretary and drive Board and Committee calendars, papers, resolutions, statutory filings, governance records and action closure

Examples of This Role in Practice

  • The CEO is considering a significant technology commitment: model the financial scenarios, test affordability and cash impact, surface the trade-offs and provide a clear recommendation
  • A business team needs to appoint a strategic vendor quickly: decide the appropriate procurement route, ensure proportionate due diligence and commercial challenge, and maintain approval discipline
  • Month-end results reveal expenditure running ahead of plan: identify the drivers, challenge accountable owners and determine the actions required to protect the annual outlook
  • An audit identifies weaknesses in a key financial control: establish the root cause, agree practical remediation and drive the issue to evidenced closure
  • A Board meeting requires decisions across budget, contracts and governance matters: coordinate decision-ready papers, maintain controlled circulation and ensure resolutions and actions are tracked to closure
  • An outsourced finance, HR or corporate services provider is under-delivering: challenge performance against agreed outcomes and decide whether processes, service levels or delivery arrangements need to change

What Will Help You Succeed

  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including at least 5 years owning financial control or finance leadership outcomes
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent, together with a professional qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Strong judgment across financial governance, budgeting, treasury, audit, risk, commercial decisions and Board reporting
  • Experience building financial control frameworks and working directly with Boards, auditors, regulators and senior stakeholders
  • Ability to govern procurement, contracts, corporate administration and company secretarial coordination alongside core finance responsibilities
  • Experience in payments, financial services, fintech or infrastructure environments, particularly start-up, scale-up or outsourced operating models, will strengthen your fit
