Responsibilities

About the Company

Our client is a Hong Kong-based asset management firm with approximately USD 4 billion in Assets Under Management (AUM) . The firm is seeking an experienced Deputy COO to support its senior management team across operations, risk management, finance, governance and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee risk management frameworks, including market risk, portfolio exposures and VaR monitoring.
  • Supervise fund operations, back-office functions, finance, FRR and regulatory reporting.
  • Strengthen corporate governance, internal controls and operational risk management frameworks.
  • Review portfolio risks and risk management practices in collaboration with the investment team.
  • Manage relationships with fund administrators, auditors, professional advisers and external service providers.
  • Support regulatory matters and liaise with the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).
  • Lead and develop the Operations team, ensuring effective delivery across key functions.
  • Act as a senior deputy to the COO, providing leadership, operational oversight and business continuity during their absence.

Requirements

  • 12–15 years of experience in asset management, hedge funds, fund management or a similar investment environment.
  • Existing SFC Type 4 and Type 9 Responsible Officer experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management, VaR, fund operations, finance and Financial Resources Rules (FRR).
  • Solid understanding of Hong Kong's regulatory framework, particularly SFC requirements.
  • Proven experience in governance, internal controls and operational risk management.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with investment professionals and senior management.
  • Previous experience managing or leading an operations function is preferred.
