Senior Executive / Manager – Product Development & Purchasing

Job Type: Full-time
Location: Klang

Salary: RM 4,000-RM 6,000

Monday – Friday

Working Hours: 8.30am – 6.00pm

Jack Studio Marketing Sdn. Bhd. is a Malaysian established brand specialising in men’s leather goods, bags, wallets, belts and lifestyle accessories, with a strong retail and e-commerce presence nationwide.

We are looking for a hands-on, commercially minded and creative Product Development & Purchasing professional to join our team. This role is responsible for developing new products, identifying suitable suppliers, managing product sourcing and purchasing, negotiating costs and ensuring new products meet our quality, pricing and market requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Development & Design

• Develop new products and improve existing product collections based on market trends and customer demand.
• Research new product ideas, materials, colours, designs and functions.
• Prepare product concepts, specifications, sketches and product requirements.
• Coordinate samples, prototypes and product revisions with suppliers.
• Work closely with the management and sales/marketing teams to develop commercially viable products.
• Ensure new products are aligned with Jack Studio’s brand image, target market and price positioning.

2. Sourcing & Supplier Management

• Identify, evaluate and develop new local and overseas suppliers/manufacturers.
• Source suitable materials, products and accessories at competitive prices.
• Maintain and develop good relationships with existing suppliers.
• Compare suppliers based on price, quality, MOQ, lead time, capacity and reliability.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, MOQ, lead time and other commercial conditions.

3. Purchasing & Procurement

• Plan purchasing requirements according to sales demand, inventory levels and product launches.
• Prepare quotation comparisons and purchasing recommendations for management approval.
• Issue and follow up Purchase Orders.
• Monitor production and shipment schedules to ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinate with warehouse and relevant departments on incoming goods.
• Monitor purchasing costs and identify opportunities to reduce product cost without compromising quality.

4. Quality Control & Product Improvement

• Establish and communicate product specifications and quality requirements to suppliers.
• Follow up product samples and pre-production samples.
• Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues, defects and product discrepancies.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve product quality, packaging, functionality and cost.

5. Market & Competitor Research

• Monitor market trends, competitor products, pricing and new product launches.
• Conduct regular research on retail stores, e-commerce platforms, social media and relevant markets.
• Identify potential product opportunities and recommend new product categories.
• Provide management with product development and sourcing recommendations.

6. Cost & Commercial Management

• Prepare product costing and margin analysis.
• Ensure products meet the company's target selling price and gross margin.
• Analyse supplier quotations and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Review product performance and recommend continuation, improvement or discontinuation.

7. Cross-Department Coordination

• Work closely with Management, Marketing, Retail, E-commerce, Warehouse and Sales teams.
• Coordinate product launch timelines and product availability.
• Ensure product information, specifications, pricing and purchasing details are properly documented.
• Provide regular updates on product development and purchasing status.

Requirements

• Diploma / Degree in Product Design, Fashion Design, Product Development, Purchasing, Procurement, Business, Supply Chain or related fields.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience for Senior Executive level.
• Experience in product development, sourcing, buying, purchasing or supplier management is highly preferred.
• Experience in bags, leather goods, wallets, belts, fashion accessories or consumer products will be an added advantage.
• Strong product sense and understanding of consumer trends.
• Good negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and cost-conscious mindset.
• Able to evaluate product quality, materials and workmanship.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is an added advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Willing to travel locally or overseas to meet suppliers, attend trade fairs or conduct product sourcing when required.
