We are seeking a Software Testing Engineer to perform quality assurance and software validation for banking applications and enterprise financial systems. The role involves testing Avaloq core banking functionality, validating API integrations and database transactions, executing automated and manual test suites, and ensuring application quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
Review business specifications, functional designs, and technical requirements to define test conditions, coverage, and acceptance criteria.
Develop and execute test plans, test scenarios, and test cases for Avaloq banking applications and integrated enterprise systems.
Perform functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing across banking workflows.
Validate banking transactions, account processing, data integrity, business rules, and system interfaces across frontend, backend, and database layers.
Execute REST API testing to verify request and response payloads, HTTP status codes, authentication, error handling, and integration behaviour.
Perform SQL-based database verification to validate transaction records, data mappings, processing results, and backend consistency.
Develop and maintain automated regression scripts using Python and suitable testing frameworks, with exposure to Playwright for UI automation.
Configure and execute test cycles, track execution results, and maintain test artifacts using Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent test management tools.
Identify, document, classify, and track software defects; perform retesting and regression validation following defect resolution.
Participate in defect triage, test reviews, release readiness assessments, and implementation verification activities.
Analyse application failures, review logs and test results, and collaborate with developers and business analysts to investigate root causes.
Support deployment validation, post-release testing, production incident investigation, and verification of application fixes.
Coordinate with banking operations, business users, product owners, development teams, and project stakeholders to validate business requirements.
Maintain test documentation, traceability matrices, execution reports, defect metrics, and quality assurance evidence.
Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, automation efficiency, testing standards, and software delivery quality.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Relevant experience in software testing or quality assurance, preferably within banking or financial services applications.
Hands-on experience with Avaloq core banking systems, including functional testing, system integration, or application support.
Strong knowledge of functional testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and regression testing.
Practical experience in REST API testing, request/response validation, JSON payload analysis, and API integration testing.
Proficiency in SQL for database queries, transaction verification, data reconciliation, and backend validation.
Familiarity with Python scripting and automated test development; exposure to Playwright or equivalent automation frameworks.
Experience using Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools for test management, defect tracking, and release coordination.
Understanding of banking transaction workflows, system interfaces, data integrity, and enterprise application integration.
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum and Waterfall methodologies, SDLC, defect lifecycle management, and software quality assurance practices.
Ability to analyse complex test failures, troubleshoot application issues, and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
