About Scandy's

Scandy's is bringing authentic Swedish candy culture to Malaysia through a premium Pick & Mix retail concept. Following a successful launch, we are expanding our retail footprint and digital sales channels.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a commercially minded and hands-on Finance & Accounting Manager to help strengthen our financial management, reporting, controls and processes. This role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys working with startups, supporting founders and building scalable systems from the ground up.

About the Role

You will work directly with the founder to manage and improve Scandy's finance and accounting function across our Malaysian and Singaporean entities. The role combines financial reporting, cash-flow management, forecasting, compliance and financial analysis with a strong focus on improving how we operate.

We're looking for someone who can both execute and advise — a proactive, highly organised professional who can turn financial data into useful management insights. An important part of the role is leveraging AI, automation and modern financial tools to make our processes faster, more accurate and more efficient.

What You'll Do

Financial Reporting & Management Accounts

·      Prepare monthly management accounts for our Malaysian and Singaporean entities.

·      Prepare and maintain weekly and monthly P&L reports, including performance by retail location and sales channel.

·      Monitor gross margins, contribution margins, operating costs and profitability.

·      Ensure financial records are accurate, up to date and properly reconciled.

·      Coordinate bookkeeping and accounting activities across both entities.

Cash Flow, Budgeting & Forecasting

·      Maintain and update a rolling cash-flow forecast on a bi-weekly basis.

·      Identify upcoming funding requirements, cash-flow risks and working capital needs.

·      Maintain and update the company's financial forecast model quarterly.

·      Support budgeting, scenario planning and financial decision-making.

·      Track inventory funding, supplier payments and other key working capital drivers.

Accounting, Tax & Compliance

·      Oversee financial compliance and statutory reporting requirements in Malaysia and Singapore.

·      Maintain a calendar of tax filings, statutory deadlines and reporting obligations.

·      Coordinate corporate tax, SST and other applicable tax filings with external accountants and tax agents.

·      Liaise with external auditors, accountants, tax agents and company secretaries.

·      Ensure accounting and financial documentation is properly organised and maintained.

Financial Analysis & Business Support

·      Analyse financial performance and provide practical, actionable recommendations to management.

·      Support financial planning for new stores, investments and expansion opportunities.

·      Help improve financial controls, cost management and operational efficiency.

·      Prepare financial information and analysis for management and investors.

·      Act as a trusted finance partner to the founder, providing commercially sensible advice.

Process Improvement, AI & Automation

·      Review and improve existing accounting, reporting and financial management processes.

·      Identify opportunities to automate repetitive finance and accounting tasks.

·      Actively use AI tools to improve reporting, forecasting, reconciliation and financial analysis.

·      Continuously explore and learn new AI capabilities and practical applications for finance.

·      Help build scalable, efficient and well-documented processes suitable for a growing business.

What We're Looking For

·      At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial management or a similar role.

·      Strong practical accounting skills and experience preparing management accounts, P&L reports and financial forecasts.

·      Solid understanding of Malaysian accounting standards, tax and statutory reporting requirements.

·      Experience with Singapore accounting and compliance requirements, or demonstrated ability to manage these through external advisers.

·      Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets and financial modelling.

·      Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of financial processes.

·      Commercially minded, analytical and solutions-oriented.

·      Hands-on, highly organised, accurate and reliable.

·      Strong communication skills and ability to explain financial matters clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

·      Proficient in using AI tools for professional work, with a demonstrated interest in continuously learning and applying AI to improve productivity and processes.

·      Fluent in English.

·      Based in Malaysia, preferably Kuala Lumpur.

Nice to Have

·      Experience supporting startups, SMEs or fast-growing businesses.

·      Background in retail, F&B, e-commerce or consumer products.

·      Experience with multi-entity or cross-border accounting.

·      Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or similar.

·      Experience building cash-flow dashboards, automated reports and financial models.

·      Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent).

·      Experience supporting fundraising or investor reporting.

Why Join Scandy's?

·      Help build a fast-growing consumer retail brand in Malaysia.

·      Work directly with the founder and influence important business decisions.

·      Play a key role in building the company's finance function from an early stage.

·      Fully remote working arrangement with flexible hours.

·      Opportunity to introduce AI-powered tools and modern ways of working.

·      Potential to grow into a full-time Finance Manager or CFO position as the business expands.

Compensation

·      Flexible depending on experience and engagement structure.

·      We are open to hourly consulting arrangements or monthly retainers, with an initial estimated commitment of 20–30 hours per month.

·      The role will start on an independent contractor basis, with the possibility of evolving into a permanent full-time leadership position.
