Responsibilities

Job Descriptions:

Position: Legal Counsel – Clinical Development Center (CDC) Malaysia

  • To provide legal support to the Clinical Development Center (CDC) and also support pharmaceutical clinical development activities, commercial contracting, legal risk assessment, data privacy, regulatory compliance and research-related agreements.
  • Draft, review and negotiate clinical research and pharmaceutical-related agreements, including Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs), Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), Data Sharing Agreements, vendor contracts and other research-related documentation.
  • Provide legal advice on key contractual provisions covering indemnification, liability, insurance, intellectual property, confidentiality, publication rights, data privacy and other commercial risks.
  • Support contract discussions and negotiations with hospitals, healthcare institutions, research organizations, investigators, Contract Research Organizations (CROs), vendors and other external partners.
  • Assess contractual and legal risks and provide clear, practical and commercially appropriate recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure agreements are reviewed in line with company-approved templates, internal policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and applicable clinical research standards, including ICH-GCP, with support from relevant internal subject-matter experts where necessary.
  • Advise on Malaysian data protection and privacy requirements, including the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), data sharing arrangements and cross-border transfer of personal data.
  • Work closely with local, regional and global Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Clinical Development and business teams to support pharmaceutical research and development activities in Malaysia.

To be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent recognised legal qualification
  • Familiar of Malaysian laws and regulations, particularly in commercial contracts, data protection and corporate/legal risk matters.
  • Candidates with commercial legal experience in pharmaceutical environment are encouraged to apply.
  • Proven experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements.
