I’m Manas from eTeam, currently hiring for two AS400 COBOL Developer opportunities with Accenture in Selangor, Malaysia.

This is an exciting permanent employment opportunity for professionals looking to strengthen their careers in enterprise application development, particularly in the AS400 COBOL, Mainframe COBOL, or AS400 RPG environment.

We are looking for professionals with experience in AS400 COBOL development, Mainframe COBOL, AS400 RPG, SQL, DB2 databases, application maintenance, software delivery lifecycle, and banking or payments applications. Candidates with strong Mainframe COBOL or AS400 RPG experience who are willing to transition to AS400 COBOL will also be considered.

There are two opportunities available, depending on your experience and technical background:

• Junior Role – Senior Analyst: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• Senior Role – Associate Manager: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, with banking/payments domain experience and the ability to guide junior developers.

The senior opportunity offers the chance to take ownership of technical deliverables, mentor team members, and collaborate with stakeholders on business-critical applications.

AS400 COBOL Developer – Senior Analyst

You will have the opportunity to work independently and become a subject matter expert in a dynamic and collaborative team environment. Your active participation and contribution in team discussions will be highly valued as you help provide innovative solutions to work-related problems.

Job Description:

o Develop and configure AS400 COBOL software modules, interfaces, and components under the guidance of senior team members

o Work collaboratively in a team environment to deliver quality software that meets requirements within agreed timelines

o Participate in exploring solutions to enhance application functionality and fulfil business/user needs

o Adhere to established standards and methodologies of application design and functionality

o Demonstrate eagerness to continuously grow technical skills and stay current with software development trends

o Proactively raise issues and escalate blockers to senior developers or team lead

Qualifications and Experience:

o Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology

o Minimum 3 years of AS400 COBOL development experience (candidates with Mainframe COBOL or AS400 RPG experience who are fast learners and keen to pick up AS400 COBOL will also be considered)

o Exposure to the banking or payments domain is preferred

o Working knowledge of AS400 COBOL (Mainframe COBOL or AS400 RPG), SQL and DB2 database

o Experience in JIRA and ALDON preferred

o Exposure to the software delivery lifecycle and AS400 application maintenance

o Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and with clients

AS400 COBOL Developer – Assoc Manager

Job Description:

o Design, develop, and configure AS400 COBOL software modules, interfaces and components

o Lead and mentor junior developers: conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and support skill development within the team

o Ability to work in a team environment delivering quality software that meets requirements, working to a timeline

o Explore new business solutions to continually enhance functionality that fulfills business / user needs

o Adopt standards and methodologies of application design and functionality

o Motivated to continually enhance technical skills to be aware of the latest software development trends/skills

o Be a self-starter and recognize when issues need to be raised

o Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions

Qualifications and Experience:

o Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology

o Minimum 7 years of AS400 COBOL development experience (candidates with Mainframe COBOL or AS400 RPG development experience will be considered for candidates who demonstrate strong aptitude and willingness to transition to AS400 COBOL)

o Experience in the banking domain, especially in Payments

o Working knowledge of AS400 COBOL (Mainframe COBOL or AS400 RPG), SQL and DB2 database

o Familiar with JIRA and ALDON

o Involved in the complete software delivery lifecycle and maintaining AS400 applications

o Demonstrated experience in coaching or mentoring junior team members is a plus

o Excellent communication skills and ability to handle communication at different levels

o Hands-on experience working in a client-facing role and stakeholder management
