About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled interior designer / assistant interior designer / draftsman to join our dynamic interior fitout team at Hing Lung Interior Design and Engineering Limited. In this full-time position, you will be responsible for producing accurate shop drawings and technical documentation for complex interior fitout projects in the Kwun Tong District. Your strong drafting expertise, construction knowledge, and attention to detail will be crucial in translating design intent into buildable drawings and ensuring the highest quality standards are met on site.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and develop detailed shop drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, reflected ceiling plans, and detail drawings for interior fitout projects (for Interior Designers / Draftsmen)

• Review and interpret architectural and design drawings, and convert them into accurate construction and shop drawings

• Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure drawings reflect actual site conditions and construction methods

• Handle drawing submissions, revisions, and amendments, and maintain proper drawing registers and document control

• Assist in preparing material schedules, finish schedules, and technical specifications

• Conduct site surveys and measurements to verify dimensions and site conditions before drawing preparation

• Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors to resolve drawing-related issues and technical queries during the project lifecycle (for Interior Designers / Assistant Interior Designers)

• Assist senior designers and project managers in preparing presentation drawings and technical support materials (for Assistant Interior Designers)

• Ensure all drawings comply with building codes, statutory requirements, and health, safety, and environmental regulations

• Continuously seek ways to improve drafting processes and implement best practices

About you

• 5+ years of proven experience in shop drawing production, preferably in the interior fit-out or construction industry (for Interior Designer)

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar Assistant Interior Designer or Draftsman role within the construction or fit-out industry (for Assistant Interior Designer / Draftsman)

• Excellent understanding of construction and design principles, as well as the ability to read and interpret technical drawings

• Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; knowledge of SketchUp, Revit, or other drafting software is an advantage

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and team members

• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and deliver high-quality results

• Relevant qualifications in interior design, construction, drafting, or a related field
