The Opportunity

Take ownership of technology products that support trading activity, with a mandate to develop new capabilities and build a client-facing interface. This senior role combines product direction, technical judgement and practical delivery. You will work closely with business stakeholders and engineering leadership to determine priorities, challenge requirements and turn complex needs into working solutions. The position offers substantial independence and regular engagement with senior decision-makers.

What you will own

• Shape the product roadmap around user needs, commercial priorities and opportunities to improve trading workflows.
• Lead the development of new functionality, including a client-facing user interface supporting trading-related activities.
• Take initiatives from discovery and requirements definition through development, testing, release and subsequent improvement.
• Translate business problems into clear specifications, user stories and implementation priorities.
• Evaluate proposed requirements, resolve ambiguity and recommend solutions rather than simply passing requests to engineering.
• Maintain a prioritised development backlog, making informed trade-offs between business value, technical considerations and delivery requirements.
• Coordinate stakeholders and engineering contributors, resolve dependencies and address obstacles to progress.
• Balance a primary focus on new development with responsibility for existing functionality, production issues and ongoing operational needs.
• Gather feedback from internal users and relevant business stakeholders, using data and observed usage to guide product decisions.
• Monitor relevant market, competitive and regulatory developments and assess their implications for the roadmap.
• Guide less experienced product colleagues and support effective collaboration with quality assurance specialists.

Essential experience

• Substantial experience in product management or a comparable technical leadership role, with clear evidence of personal ownership and delivery.
• Strong understanding of trading workflows, trading systems and the technology that supports them.
• Demonstrable experience building, substantially enhancing or owning trading platforms, supported by specific examples of what you personally delivered.
• Strong technical understanding of software engineering and system architecture, sufficient to assess options, discuss implementation with engineers and challenge proposed approaches.
• Experience combining product planning with hands-on project management and delivery oversight.
• Ability to turn complex business requirements into practical technical deliverables.
• Sound knowledge of product development practices, including Agile approaches.
• Experience managing competing stakeholder priorities and influencing decisions across business and technology functions.
• Confidence working independently, exercising judgement and remaining accountable for execution.
• Ability to interpret complex data and apply it to prioritisation and problem-solving.
• Clear communication and presentation skills, commercial awareness and a flexible, collaborative working style.
• A degree in a relevant technical or business discipline.

Experience that would strengthen your application

• Delivery of client-facing interfaces for trading or investment-related services.
• Experience with technology supporting client investment activity or assets under management.
• Familiarity with distributed-ledger technologies and the markets in which they are used.
• Experience building or scaling products within a financial technology business.
• Mentoring or management of junior product professionals.
