Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Assistant QA Manager is responsible for assisting the QA Manager in planning, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving the company's Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems. The position ensures that raw materials, production processes, finished aluminium products, and related activities comply with company requirements, customer specifications, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements.

The Assistant QA Manager will work closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Warehouse, Purchasing, and other departments to identify quality issues, implement corrective actions, reduce defects, and improve overall product quality.

Key Responsibilities1. Quality Management System

  • Assist the QA Manager in implementing and maintaining the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure quality procedures, work instructions, inspection standards, and specifications are properly implemented.
  • Monitor compliance with company quality policies and procedures.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining quality documentation and records.
  • Support internal and external quality audits.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of the QMS.

2. Incoming Material Quality Control

  • Monitor the quality of incoming aluminium billets, sheets, coils, profiles, alloys, chemicals, packaging materials, and other raw materials.
  • Verify material certificates, specifications, and relevant documentation.
  • Ensure incoming materials meet approved specifications and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and suppliers regarding non-conforming materials.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and assist with supplier evaluations.

3. In-Process Quality Control

  • Supervise and monitor quality inspection activities throughout the production process.
  • Ensure production parameters are controlled according to approved specifications.
  • Monitor processes such as extrusion, casting, rolling, cutting, fabrication, anodizing, powder coating, heat treatment, or other aluminium-related processes, depending on the factory's operations.
  • Ensure inspection points and quality checkpoints are properly implemented.
  • Investigate production defects and recurring quality problems.

4. Final Product Inspection

  • Ensure finished aluminium products are inspected according to approved inspection standards and customer specifications.
  • Review dimensional, visual, surface finish, colour, mechanical, and other relevant test results.
  • Ensure products are released only after meeting the required quality criteria.
  • Review inspection reports, test certificates, and quality records before product release.

5. Quality Inspection Team Management

  • Assist in supervising QA/QC Inspectors, Technicians, and other quality personnel.
  • Assign inspection duties and ensure adequate manpower coverage.
  • Monitor inspection performance and ensure inspections are conducted correctly and consistently.
  • Provide training and coaching to QA/QC personnel.
  • Evaluate team performance and identify training requirements.

6. Testing & Calibration

  • Ensure measuring and testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Monitor calibration schedules and calibration certificates.
  • Ensure only valid and calibrated equipment is used for inspection and testing.
  • Coordinate laboratory testing when required.

7. Audit & Compliance

  • Assist in preparing the factory for customer, certification, regulatory, and third-party audits.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Follow up on audit findings and ensure corrective actions are completed within the required timeframe.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Investigate customer complaints and coordinate with Production and Engineering teams to determine root causes.
  • Prepare corrective action reports and 8D reports where required.
  • Monitor complaint trends and implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Quality Management, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in QA/QC, preferably within aluminium manufacturing, metal manufacturing, fabrication, extrusion, coating, or a related industry.
  • Experience in a supervisory or senior QA/QC position is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and manufacturing quality control.

Experience with ISO 9001 is highly preferred.

Pay: From RM4,500.00 per month
