Role Description The Staff Mechanical Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Simpang Ampat. This position is responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies for utility locating and leak detection products, from concept through production. Day-to-day tasks include performing detailed mechanical design and analysis, creating and maintaining CAD models and drawings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in electronics, firmware, manufacturing, and quality. The engineer will support R&D activities, prototype development, testing, and design validation to ensure reliability, safety, and manufacturability. Additional responsibilities include managing engineering projects, preparing technical documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement of products and processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with experience in mechanical systems and product design.
  • Proficiency in Machine Design, including mechanisms, enclosures, and structural components.
  • Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling and detailed drawings.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate work through effective Project Management skills.
  • Experience in Research and Development (R&D), including prototyping, testing, and design iteration.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA).
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practices; ISO9001 or quality systems experience is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Experience in instrumentation, industrial products, or utility-related equipment is beneficial.
