Job Description

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Quantity Surveying or commercial management.

  • Experience in construction, industrial, oil & gas or petrochemical projects is an advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of quantity measurement, cost control, tendering and contract administration.

  • Familiar with construction contracts, variations, claims and progress payment procedures.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Knowledge of QS software such as AutoCAD, CostX or similar is an advantage.

  • Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently.

  • Willing to work at project/site locations.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Responsible for managing project costs, quantities, contracts and commercial matters to ensure construction projects are delivered within the approved budget and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Cost Estimation & Budgeting

    • Prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BQ) and project budgets.

    • Review drawings, specifications and scope of work to identify cost requirements.

    • Monitor project costs against the approved budget.

  2. Tender & Procurement

    • Prepare tender documents, pricing schedules and cost comparisons.

    • Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.

    • Assist in negotiation and recommendation of subcontractor and supplier appointments.

  3. Contract Management

    • Monitor contractual requirements, payment terms, variations and claims.

    • Prepare and evaluate progress claims, variation orders and extension of time claims.

    • Ensure contractual and commercial documentation is properly maintained.

  4. Project Cost Control

    • Monitor actual project expenditure, commitments and forecast costs.

    • Prepare cost reports and provide regular updates to management.

    • Identify potential cost overruns and recommend appropriate cost control measures.

  5. Measurement & Valuation

    • Measure completed works and verify quantities for payment purposes.

    • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier claims against actual site progress.

    • Coordinate with site and project teams to verify work quantities and progress.

  6. Commercial & Project Support

    • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers on commercial matters.

    • Maintain proper records of contracts, quotations, claims, variations and payments.

    • Assist the Project Manager and management team with commercial and contractual matters.
