Database & AI Data Engineer

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Contract: 6 Months

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Database & AI Data Engineer to design and optimize platform databases and AI-ready data services as part of a large-scale digital transformation programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver database architecture components aligned with the existing target architecture.
• Design, optimize, and maintain relational and NoSQL databases.
• Collaborate with SAP, AWS, Integration, Security, and Business teams.
• Develop data models and AI-ready data services.
• Produce technical documentation, solution designs, testing evidence, and deployment artefacts.
• Support SIT, UAT, production releases, and hypercare.
• Troubleshoot defects and support operational handover.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant enterprise database/data engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Aurora PostgreSQL, MongoDB/NoSQL, DynamoDB, and Redis.
• Strong data modelling skills.
• Understanding of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) concepts.
• Awareness of Vector Databases and AI-ready data architectures.
• Experience working on large-scale enterprise or digital transformation programmes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in the Oil & Gas industry is an advantage.
