About the Role: You will work with engineering teams to lead next-generation automation for middleware and web services. The role covers evolving legacy platforms and leading their build, integration and migration to cloud-native, open-source and AI/agent-powered platforms. You will need deep technical credibility, a visionary approach, and the ability to partner with application, AI, analytics and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own a multi-year middleware and web services roadmap aligned to business goals such as cloud migration, cost optimisation, latency SLAs and AI/ML readiness.
- Administer and optimise IBM application hosting technologies, including WebSphere Application Server, WebLogic, WebSphere Portal, WebSphere Liberty, WebSphere Process Server, WebLogic Forms and Reports, and IBM HTTP Server (IHS).
- Support other web hosting platforms such as Oracle Application Server, Apache and Tomcat.
- Drive adoption of AI, agentic and AIOps capabilities, including anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, self-healing, auto-scaling and automated patching.
- Build end-to-end observability for middleware platforms using tools such as Grafana, Datadog or equivalents.
- Lead cloud-native patterns for web services and middleware on AWS, while keeping critical on-premises applications stable and secure.
- Build secure, self-service middleware capabilities through UI and API solutions for end users and applications.
- Enforce enterprise information security protocols, manage SSL certificates and execute vulnerability patching for middleware components.
- Design and maintain message-driven processes for low-latency, high-volume transaction environments, including wires, ACH and instant payments, and manage SWIFT applications.
- Automate operational tasks and infrastructure changes using wsadmin, Python, Ansible or PowerShell.
- Ensure customer requirements meet information security standards, policies and guidelines, and support routine compliance activities.
- Develop, document and maintain middleware disaster recovery plans and end-to-end runbooks.
- Adopt DevOps and Agile practices in day-to-day work.
