Job Description

Responsibilities

DEPARTMENT : Public Markets Department

POSITION : Senior Associate

UNIT : Research

Job Purpose:

The incumbents are responsible for conducting integrated sector-based research across both equity and credit, covering companies and issuers within assigned sectors. The role applies financial modelling and forecasting, equity valuation, cash flow and liquidity analysis, and ratio, covenant and spread analysis to deliver actionable investment recommendations, credit assessments, universe inclusion papers, ongoing monitoring and timely market insights. These outputs support LTAT’s investment decision-making process, remain aligned with the Investment Policy and Guidelines, and contribute to the ongoing review of portfolio performance.

Key Accountabilities:

Sector Ownership and Integrated Research

  • Own assigned sectors as the primary research analyst, developing a house view on each covered company or issuer across the full capital structure. For each name, conduct a single integrated review of macro, sector, company, financial, ratio and risk factors, supported by financial models and forecasts. Translate the findings into both equity and credit conclusions where applicable.

Equity Research and Investment Recommendations

  • Conduct company and sector research for listed equities, including analysis of financial statements, annual reports, industry data, management guidance, market positioning and valuation. Build and maintain earnings forecasts and valuation models to support target price setting. Prepare investment reports, target price assessments, buy/hold/sell recommendations, watchlist reviews and other research outputs required for the Universe of Stocks and portfolio decision-making.

Credit Research and Issuer Monitoring

  • Conduct credit research and analysis on potential and existing issuers, including assessment of financial stability, cash flow generation, liquidity, gearing, debt service capacity, refinancing risk, covenant headroom, rating triggers and downside protection. Assess credit spreads relative to the issuer’s credit profile and comparable issuers. Prepare Universe of Corporate Bonds inclusion papers, annual credit reviews, internal rating assessments where required, downgrade action plans and credit event monitoring updates.

Sector Coverage and Research Planning

  • Plan coverage for assigned sectors, setting core and secondary names based on fund exposure, position size, liquidity, index weight, new issuance, results and event risk. Update models and views on core names regularly and move secondary names into core coverage when developments warrant it. Take part in the team’s weekly research cycle, including sector huddles, analysis days, publication and review. Keep the Universe of Stocks and Universe of Corporate Bonds up to date for assigned sectors, recommending additions, reviews and removals in line with the Investment Policy and Guidelines. Track results, rating actions, bond issues, regulatory changes, macroeconomic data and other developments that may affect the sectors covered.

Stakeholder Engagement and Investment Support

  • Engage with company management, rating agencies, stockbrokers, sell-side analysts and other market counterparties to deepen sector understanding and maintain access to relevant market intelligence. Communicate research insights clearly to fund managers, investment committees and internal stakeholders, supporting investment proposals, portfolio reviews, corporate actions, cut loss assessments and other approval papers under the applicable Investment Policy and Guidelines. Provide timely updates during investment meetings and escalate material developments that may affect valuation, credit quality, portfolio risk or compliance with approved investment limits.

Performance Analysis and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of recommendations, stock prices, spreads and portfolio holdings against target prices, benchmarks, ratings and investment objectives. Conduct post-investment and post-recommendation reviews to identify areas for improvement and recommend adjustments to enhance portfolio outcomes and research quality.

Undertake any additional assignment as instructed by LTAT.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Investment, Actuarial Science or equivalent field.
  2. Professional qualification such as CFA, MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification would be an added advantage.
  3. Strong understanding of financial statements, valuation, credit analysis, capital markets and investment decision-making processes.
  4. At least 3 years of progressive experience in investment analysis, equity research, credit research, portfolio analysis, corporate finance, capital markets or related investment roles.
  5. Experience in preparing investment papers, financial models, valuation work, credit assessments or issuer reviews would be an advantage.
