1. Key Responsibilities

A. Oracle APEX Application Development

• Design and develop enterprise applications using Oracle APEX.
• Develop responsive and user-friendly web applications.
• Design APEX pages, forms, reports, interactive reports, interactive grids, dashboards and workflows.
• Develop reusable application components, templates and shared components.
• Develop complex business processes and transaction workflows.
• Implement application navigation, authorization, authentication and session management.
• Develop applications following established coding and development standards.

B. System Architecture & Technical Design

• Participate in the architecture and technical design of APEX applications.
• Design scalable application structures suitable for enterprise and university-wide deployment.
• Establish development standards, coding practices and application architecture guidelines.
• Review application designs and technical specifications prepared by other developers.
• Identify performance, security and scalability risks at the design stage.

C. Database & Integration

• Develop SQL queries, PL/SQL procedures, functions, packages and database objects where required.
• Integrate Oracle APEX with existing Microsoft SQL Server databases and other enterprise systems.
• Work with database connectivity technologies such as ODBC/DG4ODBC where applicable.
• Develop and consume REST APIs and web services.
• Integrate applications with LDAP/Active Directory and Single Sign-On (SSO).
• Design data exchange and integration processes between APEX and external systems.
• Troubleshoot database connectivity and integration issues.

D. Security

• Implement application-level authentication and authorization.
• Design and maintain role-based access control and user-group permissions.
• Implement secure session management and access control.
• Identify and mitigate common web application vulnerabilities.
• Ensure proper protection against SQL injection, parameter tampering, unauthorized access and other application security risks.
• Work with the cybersecurity/infrastructure team to comply with institutional security standards.

E. Performance & Reliability

• Analyse and optimise APEX application performance.
• Optimise SQL and PL/SQL queries.
• Troubleshoot slow-running reports, pages and processes.
• Implement appropriate pagination and data-loading strategies for large datasets.
• Monitor application performance and resolve production issues.
• Ensure applications are designed for reliability and scalability.

F. Technical Leadership

• Lead or participate in Oracle APEX development projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Junior Oracle APEX Developers.
• Conduct code reviews and technical reviews.
• Establish reusable development frameworks and components.
• Assist the Project Manager in estimating development effort and technical resources.
• Provide technical recommendations for system enhancement and modernisation.

G. Application Maintenance & Support

• Maintain and enhance existing Oracle APEX applications.
• Analyse production incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
• Resolve application defects and technical issues.
• Perform application upgrades and migration when required.
• Maintain technical documentation and system specifications.
• Provide technical support during UAT, deployment and production implementation.

H. Project & Documentation

• Participate in requirement gathering and technical discussions.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Prepare technical specifications, system designs and API documentation.
• Support SIT, UAT and production deployment.
• Maintain source-code repositories and development documentation.
• Follow established change-management and release-management procedures.

2. Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of software development experience, preferably with significant Oracle APEX experience.
• Strong experience in Oracle APEX development.
• Strong SQL and PL/SQL knowledge.
• Strong understanding of web application architecture.
• Experience with REST APIs and system integration.
• Experience with Oracle Database.
• Experience integrating applications with Microsoft SQL Server is an advantage.
• Experience with LDAP/Active Directory and SSO is an advantage.
