ROLE PURPOSE
Act as the COMPANY technical focal point for offshore pipelines, risers and associated subsea systems from concept selection and FEED through EPCIC, commissioning and handover. Provide hands-on engineering support for waxy crude pipeline replacement, flexible and rigid system selection, brownfield tie-ins, pipeline integrity and asset life extension.
Responsibilities
- Lead offshore pipeline and riser studies, including flexible versus rigid system selection, and recommend suitable solutions.
- Define pipeline requirements for waxy crude service with Process and Flow Assurance specialists, including insulation and heating needs.
- Develop pipeline replacement and tie-in solutions for existing offshore facilities.
- Lead pipeline and riser integrity assessments and life extension studies. Review operating and inspection history, degradation mechanisms, remaining life and data gaps; recommend justified operating limits, inspection, monitoring, repair or replacement.
- Prepare and review engineering specifications, calculations and drawings, including supplier designs.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces, including dynamic riser connections to FPSOs, structural, and ensure compliance with COMPANY requirements and applicable standards.
- Prepare technical tender packages, evaluate bids and support procurement.
- Oversee contractor and vendor delivery, monitor progress and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure constructability and pre-commissioning requirements are addressed in design. Support offshore installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover to Operations.
Qualification & Experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Must be registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia
Essential experience
- Minimum 15 years of relevant offshore pipeline and riser experience across design, installation and commissioning, with demonstrated hands-on technical review and problem-solving capability.
- Experience delivering at least two offshore pipeline or riser EPCIC projects, including brownfield platform tie-ins and at least one interface with a floating production facility.
- Demonstrated experience in rigid and flexible pipeline engineering, including dynamic flexible riser systems connected to FPSOs. Experience shall include review of riser configuration, vessel motion effects, fatigue assessment, hang-off and connection arrangements, ancillary equipment, and installation requirements.
- Experience with waxy crude pipeline systems, including insulation or heating selection, pigging, shutdown and restart requirements, and coordination with Process and Flow Assurance specialists.
- Experience in pipeline integrity assessment and asset life extension beyond original design life, including inspection scopes, degradation assessment, remaining life and recommendations for continued operation, mitigation, repair or replacement.
- Experience developing pipeline replacement, riser and tie-in solutions at constrained existing offshore facilities, including structural interfaces, constructability and installation sequencing.
- Experience in technical tender preparation, bid evaluation, contractor and vendor management, offshore execution support and handover to Operations.
- Ability to independently check engineering calculations using validated spreadsheets or appropriate tools, challenge consultant assumptions.
Codes and standards
- Working knowledge of applicable pipeline standards, including DNV-ST-F101, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, ISO 13623, API RP 1111 and API 1104, according to the approved design basis and scope.
- Working knowledge of API Spec 17J and API RP 17B, API Spec 17K, API Spec 17L1 and API RP 17L2
- Familiarity with DNV-RP-F116 for pipeline integrity management, DNV-RP-F101 for corroded pipeline assessment, and relevant ISO and AMPP/NACE materials and corrosion standards.
