About the Client

Our Client is undertaking a major APAC-wide payroll transformation aimed at standardising payroll processes, modernising technology, and improving the employee experience across multiple markets.


This opportunity is suited to an experienced Project Manager who can lead a complex, multi-country payroll transformation while working closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, Shared Services, country teams, and external implementation partners. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a strategic transformation across the APAC region and work within a dynamic, international environment.

Senior Payroll / HR / Shared Services Subject Matter Expert

Payroll, HR or Shared Services Manager with transformation or implementation experience

HR / Payroll leader who has been involved in implementing new processes, operating models or systems

Shared Services professional who has managed process transitions, standardisation or regional harmonisation

Payroll or HR professional with experience moving new processes from implementation into BAU operations

Manager / SME who can work across HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, Shared Services and country teams

Experience supporting or leading multi-country / APAC transformation projects will be highly relevant

Job Responsibilities

Lead Payroll Transformation Delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of the APAC payroll transformation programme.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, dependencies, risk logs, and action trackers.
  • Track project milestones and ensure timely delivery of key outcomes.
  • Provide clear project updates to leadership and governance forums.
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate project risks and issues.


Manage Regional Stakeholders

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for APAC project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate activities across HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, Shared Services, and country teams.
  • Facilitate workshops, design reviews, decision forums, and project meetings.
  • Align global programme standards with local market requirements.


Transform Payroll Processes

  • Support the rollout of standardised payroll operating models and processes.
  • Coordinate process documentation, work instructions, and operational readiness activities.
  • Ensure payroll solutions address country-specific statutory and compliance requirements.
  • Drive process harmonisation and adoption across participating APAC markets.


Manage Technology, Data and Integrations

  • Oversee system configuration, interfaces, integrations, data activities, and testing readiness.
  • Coordinate data validation, defect resolution, user acceptance testing, and deployment activities.
  • Partner with HRIS, IT, and implementation vendors to support a seamless rollout.
  • Manage project interdependencies and critical-path activities.


Drive Change and Adoption

  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement and project communications.
  • Lead training, knowledge transfer, and organisational readiness activities.
  • Support teams in adopting new processes and ways of working.
  • Facilitate the transition from implementation and hypercare into business-as-usual operations.


Job Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of project management experience within HR, Payroll, Shared Services, HR transformation, or a related field.
  • Strong experience delivering multi-country payroll implementations across APAC.
  • Experience working with both outsourced/BPO and in-house payroll models.
  • Proven experience delivering HR or payroll systems transformation projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within complex global and matrixed organisations.
  • Strong understanding of APAC payroll processes, compliance obligations, and local market requirements.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or an equivalent project management certification is preferred.
  • Flexibility to collaborate across APAC time zones.
