Our client is a leading global technology company focused on social media, digital communication, and artificial intelligence. They are looking for an AI Product Engineer to build and improve internal products, integrations, and technical workflows that support the development, evaluation, and launch of AI-powered experiences.

This is a 6-months contract.

Responsibilities

• Product Engineering and Development: Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain internal products, APIs, backend services, data workflows, and product integrations.
• Problem Discovery and Solution Design: Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand user needs, clarify requirements, define success criteria, and develop appropriate technical solutions.
• AI Product Development: Build and integrate AI-enabled products, evaluation tools, feedback mechanisms, and experimental workflows to support the development and improvement of AI-powered experiences.
• Workflow Automation: Transform repetitive manual processes, one-off solutions, and recurring technical support activities into reliable, reusable, and self-service tools.
• Production Reliability: Apply engineering best practices, including automated testing, monitoring, observability, actionable error handling, debugging, and safe failure management.
• AI-Assisted Development: Leverage AI coding tools and LLM-based systems to improve development efficiency while independently reviewing, testing, and validating generated code and outputs.
• Performance Measurement: Define and monitor metrics to assess product adoption, solution quality, operational efficiency, time savings, and reductions in manual support.
• Continuous Improvement: Gather user feedback, evaluate performance, identify improvement opportunities, and iterate on existing products and workflows.
• Documentation and Enablement: Develop technical documentation, onboarding materials, and operational guidance to enable users and engineers to adopt and maintain solutions independently.
• Workstream Ownership: Independently manage and prioritise multiple technical workstreams, balancing business impact, technical complexity, delivery timelines, and solution quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 6 years of experience building production software in software engineering, product engineering, machine learning engineering, or a hands-on technical solutions role.
• Proven ability to independently own technical products or solutions from problem discovery and design through implementation, launch, and iteration.
• Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages, such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, PHP/Hack, C++, or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience developing or integrating APIs, backend services, data workflows, or full-stack applications, including troubleshooting complex integration issues.
• Experience applying production engineering practices, including automated testing, monitoring, observability, error handling, and reliability management.
• Strong product judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate ambiguous user requirements into practical, well-scoped technical solutions.
• Ability to use data and performance metrics to evaluate outcomes, identify improvement opportunities, and measure the effectiveness of technical solutions.

Good to have

• Experience developing or integrating AI/ML-enabled products, AI evaluation systems, LLM applications, or agentic workflows.
• Experience building internal tools, developer platforms, automation solutions, or reusable self-service capabilities.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software development and the ability to independently review and validate AI-generated code and outputs.
