Application Deadline: 12 October 2026
About the Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Research Scientist or Senior Research Scientist to join our R&D team focused on the development of advanced tooth whitening products. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving scientific innovation across formulation development, material characterization, efficacy evaluation, and safety assessment, contributing directly to the creation of next-generation oral care solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct independent and collaborative research in the development, optimization, and evaluation of tooth whitening formulations, active ingredients, and delivery systems.
- Design and execute rigorous experimental protocols for material synthesis, formulation development, stability testing, whitening efficacy assessment, and biocompatibility evaluation.
- Perform comprehensive material characterization using relevant analytical techniques to evaluate product performance and material–tooth interactions.
- Investigate the mechanisms of tooth whitening at the molecular and microstructural level, including interactions between whitening agents and enamel, dentin, and oral soft tissues.
- Evaluate the safety, cytotoxicity, and biocompatibility of formulations and raw materials in accordance with applicable regulatory standards and guidelines for oral care products.
- Analyse complex datasets, interpret research findings, and translate outcomes into actionable insights for product formulation, process improvement, and clinical application.
- Author high-quality scientific publications, technical reports, patent disclosures, and grant proposals to advance the organization's research portfolio and intellectual property position.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, R&D engineering, regulatory affairs, clinical affairs, and quality assurance to ensure seamless translation from bench research to commercial product.
- Monitor and critically evaluate the latest scientific literature, emerging technologies, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments in tooth whitening, oral care, and related fields to identify new research opportunities.
- Mentor and guide junior researchers, research assistants, and interns, fostering a culture of scientific rigor, curiosity, and professional growth.
- Present research outcomes at internal reviews, scientific conferences, and stakeholder meetings, effectively communicating complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement of research methodologies, laboratory practices, and organizational knowledge management.
Requirements
- PhD degree in a STEM discipline, including but not limited to Material Science, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Dentistry, or a closely related field. Research experience in oral care materials, dental materials, biomaterials, or cosmetic/pharmaceutical formulation science is highly desirable.
- Research Scientist: PhD qualification with demonstrated research capability through publications, thesis work, or equivalent project experience; fresh PhD graduates and early-career researchers are encouraged to apply.
- Senior Research Scientist: PhD qualification with a substantive track record of post-doctoral or industry research experience, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, patents, successful grant applications, or demonstrated leadership in research programs. Prior experience in tooth whitening, oral care product development, or dental materials research is a strong advantage.
- Proven expertise in relevant experimental techniques such as formulation science, material characterization, chemical analysis, biological assays, or clinical evaluation methodologies pertinent to oral care or dental products.
- Strong scientific writing skills and a record of contributing to peer-reviewed publications, conference proceedings, or technical documentation.
- Fluency in English is essential for effective communication, documentation, scientific writing, and collaboration in an international work environment.
- Eligibility to work in Hong Kong under one of the following: Hong Kong Permanent Resident status, Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS), Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS), Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG), Dependent Entry Visa, or other valid work permits.
- Excellent analytical thinking, critical reasoning, and creative problem-solving aptitude.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic, R&D-oriented setting.
Benefits
