About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically capable Product Development Engineer to join our team in Singapore.

Our company specialises in urban and landscape lighting solutions as well as interior luminaires, serving a range of architectural, commercial, hospitality and outdoor applications.

The successful candidate will support the development and improvement of lighting products from initial concept and engineering development through prototyping, testing and production preparation. You will work closely with designers, suppliers, manufacturers, project teams and clients to ensure that products meet technical, functional and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and engineering of lighting products for urban, landscape, architectural and interior applications.
• Translate design concepts and project requirements into practical product specifications and engineering solutions.
• Work with designers and project teams to review product concepts, dimensions, materials and technical requirements.
• Develop and maintain product specifications, drawings, bills of materials and other technical documentation.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers on prototypes, components, materials and production requirements.
• Assist with prototype development, product sampling, testing and design verification.
• Conduct basic technical evaluations and identify opportunities for product improvement.
• Review product performance, installation requirements and manufacturability.
• Support the resolution of technical issues during prototype development and production.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure product development schedules are maintained.
• Assist in evaluating materials, components, finishes and manufacturing methods.
• Review samples and provide technical feedback for design and production improvements.
• Maintain accurate product development records and technical documentation.
• Support the preparation of product datasheets, installation information and technical specifications.
• Assist with product cost evaluation and component optimisation where required.
• Stay informed about relevant lighting technologies, materials, components and industry developments.
• Provide technical support to project and sales teams when required.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in product development, engineering, manufacturing or technical design will be an advantage.
• Experience in the lighting, architectural products, electrical products, furniture, metal fabrication or related manufacturing industries is advantageous.
• Familiarity with CAD software and technical drawings.
• Good understanding of materials, components, manufacturing processes and product assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good coordination and communication skills when working with suppliers and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple product development tasks and project deadlines.
• Practical and hands-on approach to prototype development and product improvement.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Candidates with relevant engineering or product development experience are encouraged to apply.

Working Environment

The role involves collaboration with design, engineering, project, sales and production teams. The position may also require communication with external suppliers, manufacturers and project stakeholders to support product development and implementation.
