My client is a leading global quantitative and systematic investment manager, operating across all major liquid asset classes. The firm combines advanced technology, large-scale data, quantitative research and trading expertise to solve complex investment challenges.

The Role

My client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help build and enhance a global, scalable Data Lakehouse platform used by multiple trading desks.

You will work across software engineering, cloud infrastructure and data architecture, developing high-performance solutions for large volumes of financial data and highly concurrent workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and evolve a global, scalable Data Lakehouse platform supporting multiple quantitative trading teams
• Design and implement software and infrastructure within an AWS cloud environment
• Develop robust data pipelines in Python using modern data libraries and cloud SDKs
• Design data models across Data Lake and OLAP environments
• Optimise Data Lake and OLAP database performance across multiple regions
• Ensure data completeness, accuracy and quality across critical pipelines
• Build tailored data solutions for quantitative researchers and traders
• Contribute to architectural decisions and the long-term direction of the platform

Requirements

• At least five years of experience building production-grade data platforms
• Advanced Python and SQL skills
• Strong experience with Data Lakes, Lakehouse architecture, OLAP systems or large-scale analytical platforms
• Experience designing and optimising data pipelines for high-volume workloads
• Interest in contributing to cloud infrastructure and platform architecture
• Strong structured problem-solving and analytical ability
• Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating closely with a global team
• Intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn quickly

Highly Desirable

• AWS cloud experience
• Strong knowledge of cross-region data architecture and performance optimisation
• C++ experience
• Previous experience within quantitative finance, trading, asset management or another data-intensive financial environment
