About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Banking Compliance Officer with a strong understanding of both traditional finance (TradFi) and Web3/cryptocurrency ecosystems to help shape Knight's compliance intelligence infrastructure.
Knight is addressing one of the most complex challenges in modern finance: how financial institutions can establish, verify, and interpret trust across different financial systems, regulatory environments, and jurisdictions.
Traditional banking and decentralized finance operate under different technical architectures, risk models, and regulatory frameworks. As these ecosystems converge, institutions increasingly need solutions capable of interpreting financial identity, transaction activity, and compliance risks across both environments.
We need someone who understands how banks evaluate risk, how cryptocurrency ecosystems operate, and where the compliance requirements of these two worlds intersect.
You will work closely with our founding and technical teams to translate institutional compliance requirements into practical product specifications, risk assessment frameworks, and intelligence reporting standards.
This is a product-focused compliance role. We are looking for someone who can contribute directly to building financial infrastructure, not simply maintain internal compliance policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on the development of Knight's financial intelligence and compliance reporting framework, ensuring alignment with institutional due diligence and risk assessment practices.
- Translate traditional banking compliance requirements into structured, machine-readable data points, verification workflows, and product specifications.
- Develop and refine KYC, KYB, AML/CFT, customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and ongoing monitoring frameworks.
- Identify compliance requirements and risk indicators relevant to cryptocurrency exchanges, digital asset service providers, blockchain wallets, and decentralized finance protocols.
- Help establish risk assessment methodologies that incorporate both traditional financial information and on-chain activity.
- Advise on sanctions screening, beneficial ownership verification, source-of-funds and source-of-wealth assessments, and transaction monitoring.
- Support the design of Knight's Intelligence Report, including risk classifications, evidence requirements, explainability, and auditability.
- Assess cross-border regulatory considerations and differences in compliance requirements across jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure compliance frameworks can be translated into scalable technical systems.
- Participate in institutional product demonstrations, pilot discussions, and technical consultations with prospective banking and fintech partners when required.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated professional experience in banking compliance, financial crime compliance, AML/CFT, risk management, or regulatory advisory.
- Strong working knowledge of both traditional banking and Web3/cryptocurrency compliance is essential.
- Experience working with banks, neobanks, payment institutions, fintech companies, cryptocurrency exchanges, virtual asset service providers (VASPs), or regulated digital asset businesses.
- Strong understanding of KYC, KYB, AML/CFT, CDD, EDD, sanctions screening, beneficial ownership, and transaction monitoring.
- Familiarity with FATF recommendations, the Travel Rule, and regulatory approaches to virtual assets and VASPs.
- Understanding of blockchain transactions, wallet screening, on-chain analytics, and the compliance risks associated with decentralized financial systems.
- Familiarity with cross-border financial regulation and compliance requirements in jurisdictions such as Singapore, Hong Kong, the European Union, the United States, or other major financial markets.
- Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable product requirements and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills, sound professional judgment, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly when explaining complex compliance concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a compliance officer, MLRO, financial crime specialist, or compliance consultant within a regulated financial institution.
- Experience with blockchain analytics and compliance platforms such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, Elliptic, Sumsub, or similar solutions.
- Familiarity with open banking, digital identity, verifiable credentials, or financial data interoperability.
- Experience designing compliance workflows, risk scoring methodologies, or automated due diligence systems.
- Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or equivalent are advantageous.
- Previous involvement in fintech product development, regulatory sandboxes, or institutional digital asset initiatives.
