Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement of equipment used in the Field Joint Coating (FJC) Department. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, reliability, and safety while supporting production targets and maintaining product quality. The technician will perform both electrical and mechanical maintenance on coating systems, heating equipment, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and associated instrumentation.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Equipment Maintenance

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on all FJC production equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control system faults.
• Repair and replace defective components to minimize production downtime.
• Inspect machinery for wear, damage, and potential failures.
• Conduct routine lubrication, alignment, calibration, and adjustments.

2. Preventive Maintenance

• Execute preventive maintenance schedules according to maintenance plans.
• Record maintenance activities according to maintenance procedures.
• Recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability and reduce failures.
• Monitor spare parts inventory and recommend replenishment.

3. Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company safety procedures, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), and Permit-to-Work requirements.
• Ensure maintenance work complies with applicable safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Maintain good housekeeping in workshops and production areas.
• Report unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.

4. Continuous Improvement

• Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance.
• Assist with equipment upgrades and installation of new machinery.
• Suggest improvements for maintenance procedures and machine reliability.

5. Documentation

• Complete maintenance reports and equipment history records.
• Update maintenance checklists and inspection reports.
• Document equipment modifications and repairs.
• Maintain calibration and service records where applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Education: Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 1-3 years of industrial maintenance experience. Fresh graduates are welcomed to apply.
• Experience in pipeline coating, steel pipe manufacturing, heavy manufacturing, or process industries is preferred.
• Experience with induction heating systems and automated production equipment is an advantage.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

• Ability to travel overseas on short notice when needed.
• Able to work odd hours, when necessary, especially during peak project period.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM1,800.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
