Job Description

Responsibilities

Who We Are

UTC Overseas is a global logistics group specialising in project forwarding. We move the heavy, oversized and mission-critical cargo behind power plants, energy infrastructure, mines and large industrial builds. With roots dating back to 1926, a strong US presence and more than 50 offices and over 500 people worldwide, we have built our reputation on solving complex logistics problems.

UTC Overseas (Singapore) is the group’s new APAC regional headquarters. We’re a founding team of fewer than ten, growing exponentially with a clear mandate: to make UTC a leading name in Asia Pacific and win market share across the region.

Singapore is also one of the group’s three innovation hubs, alongside Germany and the US. We spearhead new initiatives for UTC worldwide, building AI agents and tools into how we quote, operate and make decisions from day one.

What this means for you: fast-moving work, problems with no playbook and a steep learning curve. You’ll work directly with leadership, own real outcomes from your first month and grow as fast as the business does. If you’d rather build something than maintain it, we’d love to meet you.

The Opportunity

We’re hiring a Project Manager – Project Logistics (APAC) to own the commercial and operational success of project logistics across the region. You’ll win tenders, design and deliver complex multimodal solutions (breakbulk, heavy-lift, ocean, air and overland) and carry full P&L responsibility for your projects, while upholding UTC’s standards for safety, compliance and client delivery.

Success means consistent tender conversion and a growing regional pipeline; projects delivered on time, to specification and at or above target margin; strong relationships with clients and UTC’s global project teams; and a clean HSE, compliance and claims record.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identify and win project logistics opportunities with EPC contractors, project owners and industrial clients across the region.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers in key verticals and grow UTC’s regional pipeline with the General Manager and global project teams.

Tenders and Pricing

  • Lead pre-qualifications, RFP/RFQ responses and full technical and commercial tender packages.
  • Source and negotiate rates with carriers, agents and subcontractors, and price to protect target margin.
  • Write clear, persuasive proposals that convert into awarded work.

Solution Design and Execution

  • Design multimodal solutions for breakbulk, heavy-lift and out-of-gauge cargo that balance safety, schedule and cost.
  • Manage site surveys, route planning, equipment selection and sequencing for multi-shipment and turnkey moves.
  • Coordinate end-to-end execution through UTC’s global network, regional agents and local vendors.

Client and Stakeholder Management

  • Be the primary commercial and operational contact for assigned clients and projects.
  • Lead progress reviews, negotiations and issue resolution, reporting transparently on cost, schedule, risk and variations.

Financial Control and P&L

  • Own each project’s financials: cost modelling, budgeting, tracking, variance analysis and forecasting.
  • Manage subcontractor pricing, variations, claims and change orders, and address margin erosion early.
  • Deliver target gross margin and report P&L performance to the General Manager.

Compliance and Risk

  • Uphold HSE, customs compliance and documentation standards across all modes and jurisdictions.
  • Identify and manage operational, commercial and regulatory risks, escalating material issues promptly.
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, vendor performance and knowledge sharing.

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • 6–8 years’ progressive experience in project logistics, project freight forwarding or heavy-lift/breakbulk operations, including business development, tendering, pricing and contract negotiation.
  • Hands-on knowledge of multimodal and out-of-gauge shipments from origin to final delivery.
  • Strong client-facing negotiation, presentation and stakeholder management skills, with exposure to project cost control, budgeting and margin management.
  • Clear communication and cultural intelligence, with the ability to influence across functions, levels and international teams.
  • Sound analytical judgement and the ability to mentor others as the Singapore team grows.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, operations, business or a related field (or equivalent experience); a Master’s Degree (e.g. MBA or technical specialisation) is a plus.

Preferred

  • Project cargo experience in energy, oil and gas, power, mining or industrial plant projects.
  • An existing network of carriers, agents and EPC/industrial clients in Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia or Oceania.
  • A transport engineering, route survey or technical logistics background.
  • Prior full or partial P&L responsibility on projects.
  • Relevant regional languages or experience across multiple APAC markets.
