Role: Junior BI Developer/Data Analyst
About the Role
We're hiring a Junior BI Developer/Data Analyst to turn raw data into clear, actionable dashboards. Working with senior colleagues and business teams, you'll build data models and reports that support better decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Modelling: Support the design of logical data models using shipping and operational data, helping capture freight mechanics such as HBL/MBL relationships, multi-leg journeys, and container utilisation.
- Power BI Development: Assist in building data models in Power BI, including Power Query/M, table relationships, and DAX measures (internships and academic or personal projects count).
- Data Quality & Governance: Run data validation checks, flag discrepancies, maintain data dictionaries, and help define data quality rules.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate data gaps and report discrepancies, and follow them through to resolution
- Requirements Translation: Gather reporting needs from business users and turn them into clear technical requests and dashboard designs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Statistics or a related field.
- 0-1 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related analytical role. Fresh graduates with relevant internship or project experience are welcome.
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookup functions, formulas) and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
- Working knowledge of SQL (joins, aggregations, subqueries). Familiarity with CTEs, window functions, views, and basic indexing and query performance is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience building data models in Power BI, including Power Query/M, table relationships, and DAX measures is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, with the persistence to trace discrepancies back to their source.
- Clear communicator who is comfortable following up with vendors and technical teams.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken). Proficiency in Mandarin is a strong advantage, as the role involves occasional collaboration with colleagues based in Hong Kong.
