Role Description

The General Manager is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Langkawi, responsible for overseeing all operational, financial, and strategic aspects of Underwater World Langkawi Sdn Bhd. This includes managing daily facility operations, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining high standards of safety, animal welfare, and service quality. The role involves leading and developing multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets, monitoring performance indicators, and driving revenue growth through effective marketing and partnership initiatives. The General Manager will coordinate with stakeholders, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and implement continuous improvement across visitor services, maintenance, and educational programs. The position requires hands-on engagement with staff and visitors, problem-solving in real time, and representing the organization professionally within the local community and tourism industry.

Qualifications

• Minimum 13 years related experience at managerial level in operations of F&B and/or hotel/tourism industry
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Hospitality, Tourism, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Proven leadership and people management skills, including team supervision, staff development, and performance management.
• Strong operational management capabilities, with experience overseeing day-to-day facility operations, safety procedures, and service quality.
• Ability to develop and execute strategic plans, including marketing initiatives, partnerships, and community engagement programs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and crisis management abilities in a fast-paced, visitor-centric environment.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance, health and safety standards, and environmental or conservation practices is an advantage.

• Willingness to work on-site in Langkawi, including weekends or public holidays as needed to support operations.
