Royal Brunei Airlines, the national carrier of Brunei Darussalam, was established on 18 November 1974 as an independent corporation wholly owned by the Government of Brunei Darussalam. The maiden flight took off from Bandar Seri Begawan to Singapore on 14 May 1975. Since then, the company has grown tremendously, earning numerous awards and recognitions, including a four-star airline rating in 2018.

Operating from our hub in Bandar Seri Begawan, we proudly serve as a full-service airline, meeting the evolving needs of passengers over the years. Growth Through the Decades

2018 marked a transformational year for us as we focused on improving our products, services, network, infrastructure—and most importantly—our people.

As part of our five-year business plan, we successfully refreshed our fleet with the more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A320neo aircraft. This modern fleet reflects our commitment to providing the latest cabin features, enhanced comfort, and improved reliability for our guests. It also helps reduce our carbon footprint, solidifying our position as a leader in environmental responsibility in aviation.

In 2019, RB received prestigious global accolades, including a Five-Star rating in the APEX Official Airline Ratings™ and ranking 66th among the world’s top 100 airlines. We were also awarded Four Stars by SKYTRAX. TripAdvisor users consistently recognized us as a favorite in the Travellers’ Choice Regional Airlines (Asia) category for three consecutive years.

Our dedication to safety and service excellence was further recognized in 2021 with a seven-star COVID-19 safety rating from AirlineRatings.com. We were named Asia’s Leading Cabin Crew and World’s Leading Cabin Crew in 2020 and 2021. In the same year, we also won Asia’s Leading Airline – Business Class from the World Travel Awards. In 2022, we were honored for the third consecutive year as Asia’s Leading Cabin Crew by the World Travel Awards.
